Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) announced on Friday morning that she will not seek reelection in 2026.

In a video posted on social media, Gov. Reynolds told voters, “Serving as your governor has been the greatest honor of my life — an opportunity that, not so long ago, I never could have imagined.”

The politician expressed gratitude for the trust fellow Iowans placed in her before saying that she wanted to share a “personal decision” with her constituents.

Grassley’s son would be a front runner. David Young is still around as well as Stephen King.

Brenna Bird, Matt Whitaker, Chris Cournoyer and others. Wait for announcements.

She’s only 64, prime age for heading to the US Senate.

Meanwhile, Grassly is 88, so should probably step down before the end of his term in 2028.

Might something be worked out?

You surely don’t think she’s got that in her, do you?

I’m guessing a deal was already made. Can she nominate herself to replace Grassley, should he step down—and then endorse his son to become guv? (Yeah, ugly, I know.)

A likely scenario if Grassley quit early would be Reynolds appointing Pat Grassley to the Senate. Kim and her husband have both had health problems and are what would be retirement age for normal people.

AG Brenna Bird will face statewide reelection in 2026 so might just as well do it for governor. Trump insider Chris Lacivita has been promoting her.

She isn’t well thought of in Iowa. She didn’t want Trump to win the election, she wanted the guy from Florida. Shr was pushing hard for him.

I hope Iowa gets a better Governor.

OMG, she has been a top 3 governor in the USA. She supported DeSantis in the caucus, but was all in on Trump in the general. Stopped tranny madness, broke up the school bureaucracy, cut taxes, and was the first governor to end the covid madness.

Bettering her tenure is a very high bar.
