I left the D.C. area in the early 1970s and much has changed there since. But there used to be a very nice floating bandstand on the river next to the Memorial Bridge on its north side. In the summer free concerts were performed and all were welcome.

It’s funny that a gay guy tells others to “not swallow” lies.

From what I read, they had record crowds.

As someone who's been in and around the Arts for decades, I can confirm what you've said.

On the other hand, if you're some freaky poseur who sh*ts on a canvas, churns out talentless garbage thrashing Whites, Christians and straight men while exalting sick freaks and thugs, you're celebrated.

I remember my dad taking our family to those concerts too. It was a wonderful city back then , very family friendly. Now families are afraid to enter DC.

“sell the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Then let it stand or fall on its own.”

Great idea. I enjoy plays, concerts, etc., but I do NOT expect Americans’ taxes to support MY entertainment with even one dime.

These people are whining to NPR. Somebody please explain why we are still giving them money.

Grenell deserves combat pay for this gig.

“does the President actually care about artists cancelling shows at the Kennedy Center?”

Uh. No.

Why should he? Just by asking the question the elitist bitch displays the fact that she doesn’t live in the real world.

“From what I read, they had record crowds.”

Yup. Since Trump made changes, attendance has broken records.

Also, Grenell has changed the outdoor lighting from commie red to red, white, and blue. Apparently, some have butt hurt about that.

diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives at the center — such as the dissolution of its Social Impact team and its effects on the community.

This is the problem and now the problem has been eradicated

Most art is crap. Let them pay for their garbage - abolish all taxpayers’ funding.

I see no beautiful buildings, no statues or works of art that inspire feelings of happiness or love or inspire joy and positivity - only square, gray, prison like structures and, well, see here:

And when they say, ‘the purpose of art is to get people talking’, it shouldn’t mean that people are aghast, in shock and just feel terrible about seeing this stuff and need someone to talk to about it.

Fund your own crap.

Let us summarize.

What is happening now is that the left is getting a healthy dose of what they have dissed out for years and years. And they have done so unchallenged. Now they are starting to understand what it means to be cancelled and have the levers of power turned on them.

No fun, is it Lefties? Well, get used to it and give us a ring when you want to end it. Lord knows we have endured it for years.

I just hope you don’t have to experience the IRS treatment.

“The arts are what connect us. We’re not connected by being divisive. “

Define arts. Bananas taped to a wall? Throwing menstrual blood around a stage? Pretending to assassinate Republicans in a play? Race swapping characters like Snow white?

These immature, Liberal clowns slay me. If they can’t converse at the level of emotion, then they are confused and offended!!!!!!!!

Right. These low class creeps are the same ones who booed the VP and his wife.

They act as if THEY themselves have been offended???!!! As if they only get funds from Liberal taxpayers! Seriously?

How' bout Grenell asks Fink to publicly apologize to the ‘Hamilton’ attendee and to M. and Mrs Vance!!! 😠

I can't express just how angry this makes me!

The Left, including, of course, Democrat/Communists destroy everything they touch. There are no exceptions ... including the arts.

I don’t recall the name of the Republican who attended Hamilton, and was called to task by the actors from the stage. Real **ass act by the cast.

It was Pence, early on when he was VP.

“does the President actually care about artists cancelling shows at the Kennedy Center?”

She asks, about the President whose gorgeous, ladylike, tasteful wife was denied by fashion designers and ignored by fashion magazines who thought Michelle, Jill and Kamala were the ultimate in beauty and style.
