JENA, La. (AP) — Columbia University graduate student Mahmoud Khalil can be kicked out of the U.S. as a national security risk, an immigration judge in Louisiana found Friday during a hearing over the legality of deporting the activist who participated in pro-Palestinian demonstrations.
The government’s contention that Khalil’s presence in the United States posed “potentially serious foreign policy consequences” was enough to satisfy requirements for his deportation, Immigration Judge Jamee E. Comans said at the conclusion of a hearing in Jena.
Comans said the government had “established by clear and convincing evidence that he is removable.”
Lawyers for Khalil said they plan to keep fighting and will seek a waiver. And a federal judge in New Jersey has temporarily barred Khalil’s deportation.
Khalil, a legal U.S. resident, was detained by federal immigration agents on March 8 in the lobby of his university-owned apartment, the first arrest under President Donald Trump’s promised crackdown on students who joined campus protests against the war in Gaza.

The head White House janitor wrote his decision that he shall be deported. Written on 2 sheets of toilet paper. This overrides the Fed judge.
Now take your due process and stick it right up your...!
Typical Lib reaction, “we do not respect court rulings we disagree with!” “we only respect laws we agree with!”.

“An immigration judge has ruled that Mahmoud Khalil can be deported from the United States due to his involvement in leading last year’s pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.
Judge Jamee Comans ruled in Louisiana on Friday that Khalil, 30, can be deported, saying that the U.S. government met its burden of proof to remove him.”
How does this NJ judge have standing once the other judge has made a ruling...
So who is paying the legal fees in this case!!!! They lost!!! Who was the plaintiff??
We need one district judge to rule against all other district judges in any cases that impede the Executive branch. That would highlight the absurdity of these twerps. Then the White House can say we choose to go with our judge.
He was going anyway.
“So who is paying the legal fees in this case!!!!”
Who knows?
He was able to get an ubdergrad and master’s degree from Columbia... so..???
His attorneys are getting cash as well as free publicity!
“In a two-page letter submitted to the court and Khalil’s lawyers, which they shared with reporters, Rubio wrote that Khalil, 30, should be removed for his role in ‘antisemitic protests and disruptive activities, which fosters a hostile environment for Jewish students in the United States.’”
I’ve not been able to find the whole letter.
I do think the quote shows sufficient basis for removal.
Trump dropped the hammer and said the losers of these cases have to pay all legal fees. that’s what I’m referring to.
>> How does this NJ judge have standing once the other judge has made a ruling...
I think an appeals court already ruled that that judge has no jurisdiction.
This has the letter with redactions of a name of a government alleged associate and number of times that person was cited by law enforcement:

Out with him send all the latte jihadis to El Salvador!
Short answer - No. we call it res judicata. Note the third description in the definition.
res judicata /rēz″ joo͞″dĭ-kä′tə, rās″/
noun
The principle that a decision by a competent court in a case fully and fairly litigated is final and conclusive as to the claims and issues of the parties and cannot be relitigated.
A claim or issue that has been decided under this principle.
An issue that is before a court, has already been decided by another court, and that therefore must be dismissed by the current court.

“He was going anyway.”
I don’t think so.
Mahmoud Khalil married Abdalla a U.S. citizen and dentist. He completed work on his master’s degree in December 2024. Mahmoud Khalil is an Algerian citizen with permanent residency in the U.S. under the green card program which was revoked.
Section 237(a)(4)(C)(i) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 (INA) provides that a foreign national CAN BE DEPORTED if the Secretary of State believes their presence risks “potentially serious adverse foreign policy consequences.”[
“Trump dropped the hammer and said the losers of these cases have to pay all legal fees.”
GREAT!
But, I do NOT believe he will personally pay one cent.
