The European Union will pause its first countermeasures against U.S. tariffs after President Donald Trump temporarily lowered the hefty duties he had just imposed on dozens of countries, European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said on Thursday.

The bloc was due to launch counter-tariffs on about 21 billion euros ($23.25 billion) of U.S. imports from next Tuesday in response to Trump’s 25% tariffs on steel and aluminium. It is still assessing how to respond to U.S. car tariffs and the broader 10% levies still in place.

“We want to give negotiations a chance,” von der Leyen said on X. “While finalising the adoption of the EU countermeasures that saw strong support from our Member States, we will put them on hold for 90 days.

“That blinked crap must be a new dem talking point”

I noticed that too... It is a new buzzword being used in articles lately.

It looks like most of the world is going to capitulate to Trump. He’s probably still going to keep his 10% baseline tariffs on most countries for the long term to help promote more industrial growth, while still getting most of our trading partners to agree to great new trade deals addressing their tariffs against us, their taxes, their restrictions, their currency manipulation, and fentanyl and other non-trade issues. Because he’s focused so much on trade deficits too, he will get a lot of countries to agree to buy more of our products, causing a boom in our industrial, agricultural, mining, energy, and service sectors, while he cuts taxes and regulations to help them expand to meet the new demand. Welcome to the Golden Age.

On top of that, he will use his leverage to isolate Communist China and start reversing the harms they’ve done to us over the past 30 years. If China’s economy is severely damaged, then that will also effect Russia, which is relying on China to keep their economy afloat. I think this move will force Russia to come to the table and make concessions, ending the war in a balanced fashion. Trump is crushing their biggest allies China and Iran and now arm twisting the Euros into buying our natural gas instead of Russian oil. The Russians will have to kowtow to Trump in order to survive economically. He will kill two birds with one stone.

And to think he did all this without tanking the economy as predicted. The foolish Dems don’t even seem to realize what has hit them yet.

Agreed. And I'm ready for the Marshall Plan to be over. Europe no longer needs our help rebuilding from two world wars. Ostensibly, the early days of European nations tariffing us but us not responding in kind was explained as us helping their economies get back on track.

Eight decades later and Europe is like the grown adult who doesn't know how to move out. Trump is telling them they have to grow up and he's kicking them out to the sidewalk.

I dont care who did what. This shit needs to stop. The EU is not a consortium that needs to be dealt with on any level.

It needs to be abolished, destroyed, and never to be let out again.

Do trade deals individually with each nation or none at all.

It is a globalist hub of criminal activity.
