Russia, China and Iran will hold talks on Iran's nuclear program in Moscow tomorrow, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told Sputnik.

I’ve been saying for awhile that Putin will successfully mediate an end to this U.S./Iranian standoff.
A nuclear-armed Iran is not in the best interests of Russia, unless that program is under Russian control.
The Chinese have their hands full controlling a nuclear-armed North Korea. They have no good reasons to want a nuclear-armed Iran.
Iran has no interest in being a vassal State of Russia or China.
These "talks" ought to be interesting.
Russia and China- LEASH YOUR DOG!
For the first time there is enough concentrated firepower around the Gulf to kill the dog if Russia and China can’t bring it to heel. The dog also sees that concentrated pack of vicious dogs in the neighborhood. Everyone wins with a negotiated end to the Iranian nuclear program and a lifting of sanctions.
Trump will do it.
Iran is #3 in oil reserves. They have no need to refine uranium except to aquire nuclear weapons
That’s silly. They can produce electricity with less than 10% enriched uranium, weapons grade is 90%. If they are getting their 7% (with NO capacity to further enrich) from Russia, they can’t make a bomb.
It goes without saying that all of the above would under constant IAEA inspection.
Your reply is as ridiculous as saying the U.S. has coal reserves to produce all the electricity we need and no other method should be allowed.
I’ve tbought all along that Putin could successfully mediate.
Remember how he saved Obama’s bacon after Obama drew his red line over use of chemical weapons in Syria? And how the so-called “rebels” (who of course wanted more direct American intervention on their side) obliged by launching a CW attack they blamed on Assad? Oh dear, what to do? Launch a direct war against Syria or back down on his red line and look like a weakling who made empty bluffs? In rides Putin on his white steed to save the day and remove Assad’s CW stockpile. Problem solved. Hillary never forgave him for it.
The same could happen after Trump’s ultimatum to Iran.
The question is: will it happen? Will Mike Walz & Friends prevail and we bomb bomb bomb Iran? Or will Trump listen to reason and Witkoff?

Looks like it might be going as expected. Trump gets Bibi on board while Xi and Putin put the screws to Iran and you get:
“Trump teases ‘very big meeting’ with Iran on Saturday after Netanyahu talks
NY Post^| 4/7/2024 Steven Nelson”

We’ll see. Moving all those assets into position to strike Iran isn’t cheap or easy, an expensive sort of threat if he hasn’t already decided to carry it out. Will he issue the same ultimatum as in his recent letter making demands the Iranians cannot meet? Then it’s bombs away.
Or will he accept the Russian solution? That would be a relief!
Per the article from the NYP you posted, Trump added Houthi attacks to the nuclear program as an additional casus belli:
“Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN, and IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire,” Trump wrote on social media.
Sounds like he really wants to bomb Iran.
He also repeated his grand ethnic cleansing of Gaza idea, The one even he surely knows cannot work. Shoot, Bibi knows it. Does he keep floating this to embarrass Bibi? Or????
Trump is not a warmonger. He is a man of peace. He also knows a war with Iran would scuttle his entire domestic agenda. Iran’s regime and nuclear program would be destroyed but the U.S. and Israel would pay a horrible price in blood and treasure for such a reckless move. Those 54,000 American sitting ducks around the Gulf would be decimated. Trump knows that. That is exactly why he ordered them home in first administration.
Agreed. No argument from me on any of that.
And yet somehow his words and actions point to war against Iran. I hope and pray we don’t go there. Time will tell.
A reasonable outcome would be something like the old JPOA, but new and improved with loopholes removed. That’s what should have been done during Trump’z first term (amending the JPOA), but Bolton convinced Trump to trashcan it completely. And here we are.
Brinksmanship, I hope.
I hope so, too!
Best I can fathom, Witkoff has been trying to head off war against Iran, while Walz appears to be gunning for it. I hope Trump trusts and listens to Witkoff more than Walz.
Yes, he will. But I hope the sanctions against that 7th century cancer remain.
