This is the first number I have seen for March government layoffs.
April could exceed that number.
Thank you President Trump.

The scary part, those Fed layoffs are only 7% of the work force.

Rinse and repeat for a few more months will add up in a hurry.
We are looking at April,May,June with similar numbers—at a minimum.

216,000+ of those jobs were government jobs.
“US employers announced 275.240K job cuts in March 2025, the highest value since May 2020, compared to 172.017K in February. The Government led all sectors in job cuts in March with 216,215, all of which occurred in the federal government.”

Biden’s job growth was mainly government jobs. This just sets things back to normal.

There is a logical explanation for the difference.
Most of the fired federal workers remain on the payroll due to severance agreements of various kinds.
They will start hitting the unemployment application numbers in late summer or fall.
