NYSE Texas is the First Securities Exchange to be incorporated in Texas
Trump Media & Technology Group Joins NYSE Texas
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The New York Stock Exchange, part of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE), a leading global provider of technology and data, today announced that NYSE Texas is officially open for business, becoming the first securities exchange to operate in Texas, with Trump Media & Technology Group as the first new company to join the NYSE community through a listing on NYSE Texas.
“We are thrilled to open NYSE Texas to corporate issuers and to welcome Trump Media & Technology Group to our NYSE community through a NYSE Texas listing,” said Lynn Martin, President, NYSE Group. “This new offering, which we announced just last month, will allow companies to capitalize on the pro-business dynamics in Texas. We applaud Trump Media, Governor Abbott and the state of Texas on their commitment to supporting the innovation of U.S. capital markets.”
“We’re honored to become the initial listing for NYSE Texas, which is a great fit for TMTG as we diversify into financial services and other realms,” said TMTG CEO and Chairman Devin Nunes. “Texas provides a fantastic climate for business and entrepreneurship that aligns with TMTG’s mission. This listing, alongside our plans to reincorporate in Florida, shows we’re part of a growing movement to take our business to states that value free enterprise and personal freedom.”
The State of Texas is home to the largest number of companies listed on the NYSE, representing more than $3.7 trillion in aggregate market value and will soon be home to NYSE Texas’ new headquarters in Dallas. Building on the NYSE’s more than 230 years of experience as the world’s leading exchange operator, NYSE Texas now provides a listing exchange to companies attracted to Texas’ growing population, strong economy and business-friendly agenda.
Trump Media and Technology Group will continue its existing primary listing and be dually listed on NYSE Texas under the symbol "DJT”.
A weird story and development all around.
Of course, there used to be more regional stock exchanges (e.g., in Boston) the better part of a century ago.
BTTT
What most people don’t realize is the NYSE, NASDAQ and CME could all move over the weekend and barely anyone would notice.
I think this move is to establish something a business-friendly state, in the event any of major stock and commodity exchanges decided to move their base of operations.
For example, the City of Chicago is in dire financial shape, a pot of potential gold is sitting in downtown Chicago, a small tax on every commodity trade could generate millions for the city, it would also cause the CME to leave town for Texas, the leaders of the CME have already said this is exactly what they would do.
I thought it was just in case climate change washed NYC away.

A similar thing happened with commodities in Europe, where the exchanges were prepared to move all their contracts to London in the face of unreasonable regulation. I think a lot of financials are starting to take political risk much more seriously.
Technology is such today the major stock and commodity exchanges could up and move at any time, they all have disaster recovery sites that are fully functioning back up sites, that data and voice could be rerouted to with a simple call to the telco.
Maybe 10 years ago, I helped convert the voice network for a major bank in Charlotte, NC, one of their disaster recovery sites was in Columbia, SC a relatively short distance away, the site had maybe 2000 phones and cubicles, less than 200 people actually worked there, in the event of a disaster in Charlotte, the departments assigned to this disaster recovery site would simply show up for work in Columbia, SC and the voice and data traffic would be rerouted with a simple phone call to their providers.
That was at least 10 years ago, today the process has surely become more advanced.

True, but continuity of business is one thing, dis-entangling the regulatory environment and contracts is the larger obstacle.
They need to take NY out of the name though.
It isn’t well liked in Texas.

Agreed. I imagine it’s not well liked anywhere outside of NY.
The CBOE moved EVERYTHING off the trading floor decades ago, to offices ( "back rooms" ), so that one and the others could ALL easily move to some other state/s and NOBODY would see any difference.
The NYSE is THE oldest such, still open, in the history of this nation, as well as the fact that it opened in Colonial times!
Some people may not like New York or New Yorkers; however, that is a ridiculous prejudice, which also dates back centuries, when rural people hated and even feared big cities EVERYWHERE.
There are good and bad people in every region, state, city, town, and hamlet. And basing an "hatred" due to a name, is something only really STUPID people do.
Re Texas...should people from other states hate Texas because Jasmine Crockett is from there?
If it is in Texas, it doesn’t need the name of another state. It should be named something like “The Texas Stock Exchange”. Wouldn’t that make more sense?
Also, Jasmine Crockett isn’t even from Texas. She is from St. Louis, Missouri.
She is another one that infiltrated Texas and brought her looniness with her.
New York corruption tried to bankrupt and jail Trump so cut the crap.
Jasmine is TEXAS' problem now; doesn't matter where she was born. The problems are that 1) Texans sent her to Congress 2) she was born at all.
NEW YORK is a state, as well as the name of a city. People from there did him dirt, but not All WHO LIVE IN THAT CITY AND/OR STATE hate him and/or did ANYTHING at all TO him.
Whatever...
NYSE is owned by ICE (Intercontinental Exchange) which is located in Atlanta. They also have the former American Stock Exchange.
