France's trade ministry condemned "unacceptable" US interference Saturday after the American embassy in Paris sent several French firms letters warning against using the diversity programmes known as "DEI", a frequent Donald Trump target.

The letters, sent to French companies currently doing or looking to do business with the United States, included an attached questionnaire asking firms to certify that they "do not practice programmes to promote diversity, equity and inclusion", or DEI.

The questionnaire, which was shared with AFP, added that such programmes "infringe on applicable federal anti-discrimination laws" in the United States, where Trump signed an order banning federal DEI programmes the day he returned to office for his second term as president.

But it’s okay for the European governments to require Elon Musk to censor content that they don’t like. Gotcha.

“I like it! Rattling Macroleon’s cage.”

The irony of it!

Not only that but they have threatened to prosecute US citizens for items posted online inside America when they travel to Europe.
Hate speech knows no boundaries, as do the EU court system evidently.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mark Rowley about posts made by Elon Musk on the topic.

Rowley responded, “We will throw the full force of the law at people and whether you’re in this country committing crimes on the streets or committing crimes from further afield online we will come after you.”

Are they in Europe when they make the posts, or are European governments prosecuting American tourists for posts made while in the U.S.?

Are the Brits taking each American aside during customs to check their social media presence yet? Just arrest us at the airport if an American is stupid enough to visit Britain. It’s kind of like vacationing in “Westworld”. Call it Sovietworld.

I notice how at odds the title is with the excerpt text and probably how reasonable is the Trump administration request. This administration is NOT going to continue the previous administration’s policies. It seeks recognition of that and compliance with it, rather than a cease of all interaction.

I can only imagine the Signal chat communications involved in establishing the world-wide embrace of DEI. The “press” was probably even more openly included than now, and dutifully kept its mouth shut, while absorbing the talking-points.

French companies in France don’t have to follow U.S. non-discrimination law, but any operations in the U.S. do.
