It seems they weren’t shot? Because if you find two people shot in the back of a pickup, you know it was homicide right?
I dunno. A .22 leaves a small hole and not a lot of blood if someone moves the body. But, yeah, you would think they would inspect for any holes before they made a statement.

My guess is a drug deal gone bad
I would expect a little more violent crime scene then, but maybe. Usually drug dealers have their guard up. Both sides.
