Trump has said Putin has no choice and Putin knows the reason.
Here is what Trump said two weeks ago.
“I also think that Russia wants to make a deal because in a certain different way – a different way that only I know – they have no choice either.”
Today you say you don't care but what did you actually say the day Zelinski was accorded the signal honor, confined to the likes of Winston Churchill, of addressing a joint session of Congress where he was lauded by all and promised the moon?
What did you say when Donald Trump took credit for the valiant defense of Ukraine conducted in the early part of the war because Trump had supplied javelin missiles?
What did you say when a United States government officer advised Zelinski not to make peace with Russia because America would support Ukraine?
What did you say when America offered Ukraine admission to NATO? What did you say when America committed in writing to defend the integrity of Ukraine in exchange for Ukraine surrendering its nuclear weapons?
What did you say when the United States fomented a revolution, actually a coup, in Ukraine leading to this war?
What will you say to every leader around the world who is drawing the only reasonable conclusion from the fact that America betrays its allies, reneges on its commitments, and can longer be trusted to aid in defending them against China?
When America is isolated and alone, trading with no one, who will save our sorry butt?
I trust PDJT. The general doesn’t know jack. He’s been part of the failure of the last decades.
The one and only, your god, idol, and hero. The great Zelenski.
” who got the US in this mess to begin with”
The US is not in any mess in Ukraine. We are not obligated to help Ukraine in any way and never was. It’s a mess but thank God we are not involved other than trying to try to make peace. Trump and USA can walk away anytime.
Yup.
Keane is a neocon of the worst kind, who backed every wrong, stupid, costly war America got into.
Inevitably this clown is getting money from Big Defence.
“What did you say when America offered Ukraine admission to NATO?”
When did that happen?
And who actually made this offer you talking about?
Even Biden didn’t.
Keane's the chairman of the outfit that makes the Humvee and a former chairman of General Dynamics.
Now, in a classic neocon, defense contractor circle jerk, Kagan also contributes to the neocon American Enterprise Institute, which receives funding from . . . (drum roll please). . . defense contractors, as does the ISW.
These scumbags are insidious bringers of death and misery to wherever they set their eyes on. That is how they make their money. A pox on them all.
As intercourse among nations, we should consider what the nation's role was and should be against the cost, especially the cost to be counted among our relationships with other nations upon whose cooperation our national defense depends. Whatever we save, whatever few pennies we say out of the probably $77 million of actual cash outlay for Ukraine, it was peanuts when counted against our damaged reputation, the the diminution of our ability to deter China, the effect our treatment of Ukraine has had on our European allies who do trade with us and who presumably will now not be buying many weapons from us. These are only the beginning of a expanding list of consequences and unintended results.
The money is peanuts when counted against the proliferation of nuclear weapons that we have just forced the Europeans to make and the add-on proliferation of surrounding countries who must arm up as a consequence. We have just squandered our ability to nuclear deter Russia and other actors to aggress against Europe. Have we not also lost our ability to deter China?
Only a fool will believe that a general kinetic war in Europe is an affair that does not directly affect the national security of the United States-only a fool who has no knowledge of history or 2 world wars and a Cold War.
A nuclear war in Europe is the equivalent in ultimate death and destruction of a nuclear war directly in the United States. The destruction of NATO, the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the fragmentation of a coherent deterrent policy in Europe, can only make nuclear war more likely.
These are affairs of nations and have more real-life significance than the fate of Zielinski's butt - all our butts are at stake..
I thought that would certainly start a war because it violated the Minsk Agreement and Russia could not tolerate it any more than we would tolerate Warsaw Pact Missiles in Cuba or Russian missiles on our border with Mexico. I also thought that Zellensky and Biden were fools.
bttt
1. America's national defense does NOT and has never depended on Europe.
Europe spends most of their budgets on free healthcare, generous pensions, etc and little on defense.
Germany is a prime example.
Europe can't even defend themselves without hundreds of billions of US tax payer dollars every year, let alone defend America.
Don't make me laugh.
2. $77 million cash outlay for Ukraine huh?
You kidding right?
Try $300 Billion of US tax payer dollars spent on the Ukraine war so far.
USAID alone gave billions of dollars to Ukraine in direct government support to pay Ukraine civil servants.
Funny thing is, the more money Ukraine steals from America, the lower the amount Ukraine claims it is.
Why is America squandering billions of dollars of US tax payer dollars on the most corrupt country on the planet?
But that raises a moral responsibility in the United states: here is a small ally, seduced and abandoned, have we no responsibility for the bastard wars we have sired?
Okay, in the new world of real politik morality is a outmoded principle but there are real-life consequences of what we have done that we cannot escape because we are a new administration that disowns all or just some the bad habits of the previous administration.
I point out to you that when Zelinski addressed a joint session of Congress the Republicans were cheering as enthusiastically as the Democrats.
The world does not look at American foreign policy in terms of our internal politics and judge one administration free of the commitments made by a previous administration. If that were so, we could have no alliances anywhere around the world.
Yes our decades long policy toward Ukraine was foolish but we are in the process of compounding the foolishness by the callousness of our new more enlightened attitude towards Ukraine. We have not just reneged on our promises to Ukraine, we have deliberately and affirmatively turned against the country we inveigled into war and now leave naked and vulnerable.
That flip-flop is not going unnoticed around the world.
