And as if raising $20k in two weeks is not hard enough, what I'm about to ask sounds crazy and even unreasonable.

Please use paypal or mail-in checks ONLY for the time being. Please DO NOT use our credit card program. It's in test mode and will not work at this time. We hope to have it ready to go within a week or so. We can only pray that it's not too late.

We are very sorry about this inconvenience, however, we have to get this work done. Our system has been abused by fraudulent credit card testers using bots to process hundreds of fraudulent entries. We are working to make our system bot-proof so that we can get our merchant account approved again.

And, unfortunately, this delay has caused our FReepathon to fall even further behind and it's going to be very hard to get caught up before the end of the month.

While we can't use credit cards at this time, our paypal program still works fine. Also, paypal has a credit card function where you can donate by credit card through paypal and you don't even have to have a paypal account to do so.

I have used my major credit card on the Free Republic Pay Pal app two times.

Once, a couple days ago. And, once when FR had credit card processing issues several months ago.

I can report that my credit card donations went through just fine, with no security issues that I am aware of.

Also - no extra fees are applied, by Pay Pal, or by my own credit card. And, my 1.25% Cash Back still applies.
