As usual with Perun, a backgrounder of financing, politico-bureaucratic issues, current political situation, etc. Lots and lots of considerations addressed. Including, note, interesting specific issues with upgrading the UK nuke arsenal. An excellent start of a framework for slotting in incoming news.
Long but essential. Short answer is the Euros have the money, resources and industry, to remove reliance on the US. And interestingly PPP diversity, where efficiencies can be found for specific categories that are not available to the rich countries.
I always thought that US withdrawal from its foreign security commitments would lead to a big increase in nuclear proliferation.
This could be, actually, a good point of leverage for the US, for example, if it offered to share nuke tech with South Korea and Japan in response to China's threats.
“I always thought that US withdrawal from its foreign security commitments would lead to a big increase in nuclear proliferation.”
So did I. Its an obvious consequence of the current trend.
If we rearm Europe, the jihadis will have our weapons to use against us.
The Euros are starting to rearm themselves.
I don’t think the Euros intend to become dependent on the US again.
As for “the jihadis”, I think there is more than a bit of hysteria in all this.
European rearmament will be painfuil for then because they have trashed their economies with socialism and eco-fanatacism.
Europe has a MUCH better fiscal situation and a better credit rating than the US. That’s one takeaway from the video, I recommend watching it.

The problem is their productive capacity to stage re-armament, not their credit ratings. (A poor recent graduate can have a balanced budget and a good credit rating but be unable to afford purchases of big ticket items needed for self defense.)
America's advantages over Europe are vast. Compared to the rest of the world America has many advantages. Two oceans for defense, the largest navigable river system, more energy deposits, more arable land, and two sh1tty neighbors we could roll over in a week.
Note to self - buy some defense stocks or etf.
Poland is making itself a middle-weight power in Europe and will soon have the largest army in NATO apart from the US. Unfortunately, Polish politicians have not stepped up to the plate to assume a unified front on foreign policy and are bickering with each other. For example, Duda asked Trump to include Poland in the "nuclear share" club and station US nukes in Poland. Tusk claimed that the parliamentary government was not consulted, which is now revealed to be untrue. Tusk's government also seems intent on pursuing politically motivated prosecutions against former PiS government officials, one of whom has requested political asylum in Hungary.
With the Russian wolf at the door, this is an embarrassment. As Talleyrand said, "It's worse than a crime: it's a mistake."
The Poles also keep bringing up the Volhynian massacres as an issue with Ukraine. This is a legitimate issue, but must be handled in the most delicate manner. The Ukrainians have already agreed to allow remains to be found and reinterred in real cemeteries, but some Polish politicians keep making hay about it for narrow political reasons. It's hard for the Ukrainian government to address because most Ukrainians believe the massacres never took place and the accusations are Soviet anti-Ukrainian propaganda. When I was in Ukraine, I asked about it, and that's the answer I got from every Ukrainian with whom I raised the issue. And they also suspect Poland may want western Ukraine back.
The Lithuanians also get nervous every time a Pole waxes nostalgic about the Commonwealth.
Restoring the Commonwealth would be an excellent idea, but doing so requires, I think, overcoming far too many fears and resentments of all parties to be practical.
Europe has massive aerospace industries - think Airbus, which has tons of spinoffs. Airbus is THE leading aerospace company on Earth. And there are numerous Euro military aerospace manufacturers.
Airbus is part of the Eurofighter consortium.
The Rafale successor is apparently a joint venture between Dassault and Airbus.
Guns before butter CO2 credits.
It's all about priorities.

Indeed, and let me add this as well:
When Russia blatantly violated the International Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty by recently deploying nuclear weapons to Belarus (putting Russian nukes directly on EU’s border), discussions about reinforcing Europe’s nuclear deterrence IMMEDIATELY followed. Reciprocity and equilibrium are the only guarantees of peace. Poland merely formalized that discussion a few days ago.
Have you watched the newclips of Muslim aliens demanding Sharia law in the Netherlands?
You have your head in the sand.
Again:
“What about our nukes? Are our nukes in Belgium, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands and Turkey “aggressively positioned all over Europe”? By your lights, the USA has engaged In “unchecked nuclear expansion” with Russia falling far behind us.”

I have already answered you on this.
So again: those countries you mentioned are NOT bordering Russia! Right?
Since Russia made the mistake of arming Belarus with nuclear weapons (against international agreements), the EU can now reciprocate by positioning nuclear weapons in Finland, Estonia and Latvia.
Over and out.
I think we should raise the price of the cost of weapons to offset the tariffs EU is planning or has already implemented. They need to understand that we are not their whipping boy country then can just expectg to bail them out when they get their sorry azzes into a problem. The planet is shared. You want help, show me you’re a supporter and not a meal ticket.

Well, that’s a good way to terminate arms sales.
You do understand that the Euros are your primary arms selling competitors? Euro companies would cheer, and see your plan as just more incentive for Euro countries to cut ties to the US and prefer them. Not that they need much more of that these days.
