President Donald Trump said on Saturday that General Keith Kellogg's role has been narrowed from special envoy for Ukraine and Russia to only Ukraine, after Russian officials had sought to exclude him from talks aiming to end the war.
"General Kellogg, a Highly Respected Military Expert, will deal directly with President (Volodymyr Zelenskiy), and Ukrainian leadership," Trump said in a post on Truth Social. "He knows them well, and they have a very good working relationship together."
Russian officials had communicated to their counterparts in the United States that they did not want Kellogg involved in top-level discussions aimed at ending the Ukraine war, sources told Reuters this week. Some high-ranking former Russian officials have complained that Kellogg was, in their view, too sympathetic to Kyiv.
Kellogg, 80, has been personally absent from some high-level discussions in recent weeks, including a meeting involving U.S. National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Secretary of State Marco Rubio with a Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Perhaps the Rooskies don’t feel they can pull one over on Kellogg?
Maybe but it has not been uncommon for countries to seek foreign diplomats they perceive as more aligned to their position.
This is not unusual for such negotiations. History past one would often see the chief diplomat be requested because of fairness or a better viewing of the countries position.
We have just not seen real diplomacy in a long time.
He was openly a Ukraine fan and made statements to the effect that in these negotiations, the US was an advocate for Ukraine.
So when dealing with Kellogg, he might as well be a Ukrainian.
Now, if Trump could just find a way to get rid of Zelensky.
He was the former Commander of Special Operations Command Europe, so the Russians knew they were dealing with someone who understood them very well.
Kellogg was a Pence man, and he hired Heather Nauert, to be his advisor. She was a Nikki Haley gal and a Uke cheerleader.

This came out days ago. The Russians discovered his daughter runs an NGO in Ukraine, which rendered him unavoidably partial.
Kellog is a product of the Cold War and has studied the Russians endlessly. He cannot be fooled by their sweet talk.
I mentioned this problem with Kellogg when he was named back in November
“Kellog is a product of the Cold War and has studied the Russians endlessly. “
Yeah he has obsolete knowledgeable about a defunct political entity. Just like you.
Why would you say that his knowledge of Russia and Putin is obsolete? Do you really think that his knowledge and in depth study and security secrets knowledge of Putin and Russia is inferior to yours?
LOL
From the very beginning of talks, Kellogg did not understand that Ukraine had lost the war. He was pushing for terms that the Russians would never accept.
“Kellog is a product of the Cold War and has studied the Russians endlessly.”
“Why would you say that his knowledge of Russia and Putin is obsolete?”
Because he is “a product of the Cold War”.
He was an “expert” (who doesn’t speak Russian) in a defunct Regime that collapsed 30+ years ago. And which almost none of the insiders believed in the official ideology for a good 10+ years before that.
It’s like having someone who was an expert on the Shah’s Regime taken as an expert on Iran.
Why you think someone who is deeply interested in Russia and whose work life is involved with knowing about them suddenly switched off in 1991 instead of remaining more interested and more knowledgeable than most other people is baffling, and it is really strange reasoning, everything goes blank for the truly interested, but not for you and other people who were never deeply involved and focused on them since 1991.
As far as Kellogg, I don’t know why you tie him to pre 1991 Russia (when his focus would have started) when his big time focus and highest levels career interest on Russia and Putin, is post 1991 anyway.
Even the NY Times is slacking. Here is the latest from the NYT in regards to the Kursk disaster:
“We continue to hold positions on the Kursk front,” an assault platoon commander, who asked to be identified only by his call sign, Boroda, said by phone. “The only difference is that our positions have shifted significantly closer to the border.”

You think? Very good of you to be so trusting of Russia and Putin.
