NATO, Ukraine, and the War Hawks’ Pixie Dust Playbook
American Thinker ^ | March 14, 2025 | By Charlton Allen

Posted on 03/14/2025 8:57:49 AM PDT by Kazan

The Never-Ending War crowd wants you to believe three things at once:

*NATO expansion deters aggression—and won’t provoke retaliation.
*Giving Ukraine de facto NATO security guarantees will protect it—but won’t require American blood and treasure if war breaks out.
*Russia will accept NATO troops or bases in Ukraine—but won’t view that as an existential threat.

Their bombast contradicts each of these premises. The war hawks argue that Putin has never complied with any agreement—that he is a liar, a thug, and a geopolitical predator. Yet, they insist that American troops must be a necessary component of any agreement.

What exactly do they believe this will achieve?

#

And wasn’t this one of the causes of the war to begin with? The foreign policy establishment pretends that Russia’s invasion was unprovoked. Yet, their relentless push for NATO expansion helped ignite this war. Rather than admit their policies provoked conflict, they double down—demanding more of the same, as if the fire can be extinguished with gasoline. Moscow explicitly warned that this would cross a red line, but those warnings were dismissed as mere bluster.

The war hawks—so eager to cite history when it suits them—ignore this inconvenient reality. They believe NATO can plant troops and military infrastructure inside Ukraine without triggering escalation, as if Putin—whom they brand a ruthless expansionist—will suddenly play nice once NATO troops roll up to his border.

I don’t see the necessity of Ukraine in NATO. But this nonsense about provoking Russia was borrowed from 60’s liberals and is bs of the highest order.

It’s Ted Kennedy logic which means no logic and anti American.

Russia knows exactly what it’s doing and Putin doesn’t feel the slightest bit threatened. He just wants to expand and he can’t fight NATO.

Excellent article, thank you. Unfortunately they are succeeding with this false reality because there are enough stupid people out there who believe all of it...

What’s fair is fair.

Three things Putinbots believe in:

1. Russia won WWII by itself.
2. Russia did not lose to Japan in 1905, to Germany in 1917, to Poland in 1921 or to Afghanistan in 1989, and Russia has been winning in Ukraine for three years now.
3. Europeans and Americans are too decadent to stand up to Russia.

Wrong. You're defending the actions of Victoria Nuland, Jake Sullivan and Antony Blinken in the far-left Biden and Obama regimes that went out of their way to fomented an illegal coup in Ukraine and turn into NATO proxy.

That's what is left-wing.

“ The war hawks—so eager to cite history when it suits them”

They can talk about the 1930s, World War II USSR, and everything else. But don’t dare bring up Bandera are the Ukrainian Nazi movement in World War II Galicia.

Because that NATO presents would be intimidating. But if the Russians find that presents intimidating or threatening, they’re crazy. And if Russia fears any invasions from Europe, it’s because they are paranoid. Not because it’s happened in spades several times.

“He just wants to expand”

He just wants to recoup and if it has worth, which it does, that’s all part of the loss gain situation.

The fallacy for all that crap about
“imagine if Russia was in Canada”is that first of all America and NATO are NOT in Ukraine.

Next, Russia is a pos destructive dictatorship.

No one is “threatened” by American bases in Europe because our aim has been to SUCCESSFULLY keep the peace for 80 years.

All you screaming Russian meamies forget that you’re Americans, not Russian pigs. I think Russia had a democracy for maybe ten years in its entire history.

Next, Russia is a pos destructive dictatorship.

That is what Ukraine is. This after getting $200 billion or more of US tax dollars.

The threat we make to the Europeans when they annoy us isn’t that we will send our military, but instead is that we will remove our military if they annoy us.

People need to register that.

The fallacy for all that crap about “imagine if Russia was in Canada”is that first of all America and NATO are NOT in Ukraine.

Reasonable people understand that the United States would not tolerate Russian military influence in countries along our borders or even in our hemisphere. The notion that the US would allow Russia (or China) to send heavy weapons, military advisors etc. to threaten the US without acting is risible.

And if you're suggesting the US/NATO hasn't been involved in arming, advising, training Ukraine than you're either dumber and/or more mendacious than I thought.

I’m suggesting that this is America not Russia or communist China, and sorry you’re too dumb to realize that.

America in Japan ain’t gong to attack China.

China very well may attack the Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, India and many others.

Just like morons similar to you said Japan was justified to attack Pearl Harbor.

And Hitler was just recouping historically German areas.

It’s all bs that fools the weak minded. America has kept the peace in Europe and Asia for 80 years.
And yeah, the wars in Asia during that time were communist aggression.
