Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) announced on Wednesday that she will not seek reelection in 2026 in a blow to Democrats, who will now have to defend her New Hampshire seat against the GOP.
“Serving the people of New Hampshire, first as state senator, then as governor, and now in the United States Senate is an incredible honor,” Shaheen, 78, said in a video announcement on her retirement.

YEA!!!!!
I have to wonder how much federal money she got under the table. Maybe a lot more Democrats will not run. DOGE has exposed them.
Maybe some Democrats are getting tired of being a proxy for the party. That’s all they are.
It was such an honor trying to bring the country down.....
I heard the GOP has not stopped their registration ground game since the election and this one of those states where they are making gains.
That’s a bunch of Democrat senators retiring. The Republicans might even gain a seat or two despite having to defend more seats.
Yippe!
Ding Dong the witch is dead.
Does this mean Chris Sununu will assume the throne of the Deep State tool from NH?
Someone was funding the NH operation that always seemed to favor the RATS.
You might be correct
78 years old.
She began her political career in 1990 as a New Hampshire State Senator, served as Governor of New Hampshire from 1997 to 2003, and has been a U.S. Senator since 2009.
Before that, she was worked as a teacher, focusing on social studies, and served as an administrator in education-related roles. Additionally, she was involved in community organizing and worked on political campaigns, including managing Gary Hart's presidential campaign in New Hampshire in 1984.
New Hampshire has leaned Democratic in presidential elections, voting for the Democratic candidate in 7 of the last 8 elections (since 1992), including Harris in 2024, with the exception of George W. Bush in 2000.
There is a clear Republican trend in state-level politics, with significant gains in 2024, including the governorship, legislative supermajorities, and increased party registration. Hopefully, with the rise of MAGA and Trump showing solid results, the Republicans can win Shaheen's seat.
“NH voted for Harris, but shifted toward Trump”
“All of New Hampshire’s 10 counties shifted to the right in the presidential election between Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump, now the president-elect.
With 99% of the votes reported, Harris defeated Trump in New Hampshire by about 2.8%, or 22,313 votes, to collect the state’s four Electoral College votes. This result came as New Hampshire saw a state record turnout of 833,023 voters.”
Better to clear out with your integrity before the whole ship sinks. Big Pharma is going down.
That is the question for all congresscritters, staying or leaving.
Ok Sunnunu, let’s go
Could be.
IIRC, he was talking about it and I think it's very likely he could win considering how well he did in winning the governorship.
There is mounting pressure being applied by leftists for Richard Durbin (D-IL) to announce that he will retire from the US Senate at the expiration of his current term and not seek reelection in 2026.
GREAT! Jeanne Shaheen - D one
I’m hoping, and praying, that Trump’s presidency is so successful that it will win over those who are not completely consumed by TDS.
