Ukraine has agreed to an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, but Russia must agree first, per CBS.
US will now immediately lift the pause on intelligence sharing and restart security assistance to Ukraine
Joint Statement from U.S. & Ukraine:
“Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the U.S. proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties, and which is subject to acceptance and concurrent implementation by the Russian Federation. The United States will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace.”
How do you agree to first to something which has already been agreed?
30 days is a start but doesn’t mean much if its not permanent will see what happens
How many Russians and Ukrainians would still be alive had they agreed to a ceasefire, interim or permanent, two weeks ago?
Vlad is absolutely crushing the Ukies in the Kursk theatre- why would he want a cease fire now? Ceasefire simply not happening until the Ukies are fully eradicated from Russian soil.
The story that the media is not covering is how the Trump peace overtures are affecting the morale and attitudes of troops in the field.
Nobody in Ukraine wants to be the last guy to die in vain for Zelensky.
Putin is screwed if he doesn’t accept President Trump’s ceasefire deal from Witkoff on Thursday in Moscow.
I suspect that Putin will “reluctantly” agree.
True, but the Ukrainian expeditionary force in Kursk is largely surrounded and cut off.
Russia can destroy them in detail at their leisure and will certainly do so if and when the cease fire ends.
It would really be nice to see those Ukrainians get home to their families rather than die in vain in Russia.
Russia has no reason to sign that. They play Chess not Checkers. The minute a 30 day ceasefire is signed, the Brits French and Poles will flood in as “peacekeepers”. Brit and French planes flood into Uke airbases. Brit SAM sites manned with Brits pop up like mushrooms.
That is not a 30 day ceasefire. It is a permanent cessation, with defacto NATO protection and nothing in return for them. No sanctions relief, no release of the stolen currency and gold, no dropping sanctions, nothing. The Euros will then immediately confiscate the seized hundreds of billions of Russian currency and gold, etc.
And the Russians would be prevented from any response to any of this. Hell at that point, NATO could announce that Ukraine is now formally NATO.
This is a Uke stunt... nothing more.
Russia won’t do anything until the Euros stop buying their oil.
“the U.S. proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties”
Too clever by half. The minute the interim ceasefire happens, the “peacekeepers” flood in and it’s permanent. Russia is smart enough not to sign onto this.
The Ukes will immediately move into a terrorist war inside Russia. Bombs, assassinations, mass shootings, etc... and Russia cannot respond because Ukraine would be full of Brits and French soldiers and planes.
This is going nowhere. Nothing in it for Russia.
Rubio and Waltz just gave a press conference and said “the ball is now in Russia’s court”.
US weapons shipments to Ukraine restarted immediately under PDA.
it amazes me of how deadly pride is. What reason is there to not have a cease fire? Will Ukraine magically get Donbas under its control?
I’ll guess that this is like most ceasefires. Russia will announce that this is a good start towards negotiations of a ceasefire.
A hopeful sign.
Just as I thought it would play out. First Trump gets aligned with Ukraine, and on Trump’s terms, now the attention goes onto Russia.
Praise the Lord! May this be the beginning of the end of the killing and destruction. 🙏
