If one is in police work.
Getting out when one can retire is a good thing.

the good old boys in law enforcement perpetuated many of the policing problems that needed to be updated. change is good

I assume the older ones, those who are retiring, are disproportionately white men.
The younger detectives, those who are staying, are DIE hires who were judged by lower standards for promotion.
To: george76
They already have a “chaotic” crime crisis because D.A.’s, the Attorney General, and Judges let violent offenders right back out on the street to reoffend again.

I thought we wanted to defund the police so police leaving the force would be a good thing?
It’s all so confusing.

Is this guy still on the job? If not, NYC is definitely heading for trouble.

They’re not retiring, they’re defecting.

Yogi says "It's them again."
Of course, it's always them. The problem for detectives is which one of them.

Train new ones. 32% clearance rate is pretty crappy anyways. Either the criminals are smarter or the cops are dumber/lazier or there are a lot of BS crimes being reported that nobody wants to investigate.
