While the Peace Process between the US and Russia advances at a rapid pace heading to a détente, and the specific thorny issue of a resolution to the Ukraine conflict is surrounded by levels of geopolitical confusion, the war proceeds.
Every bit as bloody and ruthless as before.
Deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev, known for his maximalist takes on issues, has said: “Inflicting maximum damage to the Kiev regime on the ground remains the main task of the Russian Federation.”
And that’s what’s happening: the Russian Ministry of Defense has announced that no less than 85 settlements have been liberated since December.
Besides the ground troop advances, there is also the question of the punishing regime of air strikes by missiles and drones.
The Ukrainian power-generating capabilities are getting decimated, and several other high-value targets are getting pounded.
On March 1st, Russian forces executed a deadly missile strike on an accumulation of troops in the Novomoskovsk training ground in the Dnipro region.
This Ukrainian military training base from was staffed by the 157th Separate Mechanized Brigade, a group that fought near Kurakhovo, and have also been stationed near Pokrovsk.
The Iskander missile attack reportedly killed over 150 Ukrainian soldiers and 30 ‘Foreign instructors’ (a.k.a. mercenaries).

Kyiv Post reported:
“The Suspilne media outlet, citing sources, reports that one of the regional hospitals in the Dnipropetrovsk region is currently treating a large number of wounded following the attack. A volunteer assisting local hospitals confirmed the severity of the situation, stating that he had been collecting aid for medical facilities and that relatives of servicemen had contacted him for help in locating those who could not be reached.
Serhiy, the head of the medical service at one of the hospitals in the region, confirmed that wounded servicemen had been admitted and that their conditions had been stabilized.”
All the wounded had mine-blast injuries with shrapnel wounds affecting various parts of the body.
“The Russian Defense Ministry claimed it had targeted the site using an Iskander-M ‘operational-tactical’ missile system, writing ‘As a result of the strike, up to 150 Ukrainian nationals were killed, [and] up to 30 foreign instructors’.”
Also, on March 1st, Russia carried a strike against a cargo vessel carrying weapons and military equipment bound for Ukraine, that they claimed to have sunk.
The Defense Post reported:
“Russian Telegram war channel Talipov Online said Moscow’s forces unleashed two Iskander-M missiles targeting Panama-flagged container ship MSC Levante F at the port of Odesa.
The vessel, seen carrying yellow and red containers, reportedly made a stop in Turkey to load British sea drones and other weapons from the UK’s NATO base before heading to Ukraine.
‘The container ship was struck as it prepared to unload’, the Telegram channel claimed. ‘After the strike detonations began, the cargo was completely destroyed, the ship sank’.”
As long as he's not fighting on the front lines, he doesn't want President Trump's help.
Let's keep this war going! Let's keep the money flowing!
Uh-oh
Look out mama, there’s a white drone coming up the Dnieper!
Hat tip to Cynical Publius on X.
Zelensky is gonna need Zeepers at the Front.
I wonder if he'll insult America until he gets 'em?
It must be true! /s
Still not finding: “10’s of thousands of Germans are working around the clock to manufacture the artillery and munitions that Ukraine needs.”
“Foreign instructors” who shouldn’t have been there - or why this won’t get talked about.
FAFO
150 is not even a slow day in this war.
I Support Ukraine
Not enough to go and fight
Or give them my money
Or care
But I like to virtue signal on Facebook #Democrat
If they delay much longer, Ukraine will be totally taken over
“30 ‘Foreign instructors”
Looks like some of those “I Stand with Ukraine” bunch really are putting their money with their mouth is. Good for them, I guess.
Another bunch of young guys who should be out chasing girls gets offed for no good reason.
What a waste.
Calling All Zeepers…You are Needed At The Front!
Zeepers love death and Bloodshed.
As long as it is NOT THEIR BLOOD BEING SHED.
I have compassion for the soldiers and civilians dying and fighting on each side in this totally avoidable war. As in all wars each side has committed atrocities in the extreme. When one sees their brothers die in war it no longer becomes defense of nation but avenge my brother soldiers death and stay alive another day. That is the way it has always been since we were cavemen.
As you said, "What a waste." This is on Joe Biden.
The last White Christians in Europe are fighting and killing each other, and for what?
Peace Now!
