Appeals court allows Trump to remove head of federal watchdog agency for now

A federal appeals court is allowing President Donald Trump to remove the head of a government watchdog agency while a legal challenge to his firing plays out.

In a brief, unsigned order issued Wednesday afternoon, the DC Circuit Court of Appeals granted a request by the Trump administration to put on hold a lower-court ruling that said Trump’s firing of Hampton Dellinger was unlawful. That ruling said Dellinger, the head of the Office of Special Counsel, was entitled to stay at his post.

“This order gives effect to the removal of appellee from his position as Special Counsel of the U.S. Office of Special Counsel,” the appeals court said in its order Wednesday. “Appellants have satisfied the stringent requirements for a stay pending appeal.”

The appeals court said it would expedite its review of the lower-court ruling.

It’s likely that Dellinger will appeal the court’s order to the US Supreme Court on an emergency basis.

That’s mighty white of them.

Is every management decision by Trump to be supervised by the courts?

This is ridiculous. Why do they even have standing to sue?

They don’t. The judge gives it to them with no power to do so. And it would appear that the supreme Court has given them their blessing

Isn’t it just?

I looked for other sources because I hate posting news from CNN. I didn’t want to post something from X.

But, I did post the link to the article so Freepers can read it for themselves. Which is more than CNN did in their slanted framing of the issue.

I see that you follow the AP style guide by not capitalizing White! That makes me suspicious about your true intentions on freerepublic.com.

If Roberts, and now Barrett, want to dispel the rumors of being compromised by the deep state, they are definitely going about it the wrong way.

Re: 8
I believe Robert’s is compromised (I.e., blackmailed), but I believe Comey was just a stealth Lib who fooled everyone. Like Souder from the Bush days.

The way I read the SCOTUS decision is simply that the US Government (USAID) has to honor a contract especially to pay for those services that had been performed.

The Court does not specify how to decide which projects that qualify as service rendered.

Wow! The mixed messages are getting quite hard to follow.
We’ll take the win. But, why are we still chasing these lefturd quasi-judicial notions?

The USSC is worthless, when it comes to Trump's efforts.

They are corrupted beyond hope (except for Thomas and Alito).

Yeah...the decision is quite narrow and only applies to the existing projects.

“Trumps the president, he can hire, fire, anyone he damn well pleases.

This is true but he needs to force the issue. As it is he is letting them take his authority away but not defying their rulings.

Lower courts need to be tamped down. They cant be used to prevent presidents doing their job.
