Knowing THE Ukraine's constitution mandates that elections cannot go ahead until any declaration of martial law is lifted, he kept signing extension after extension, holding THE Ukraine hostage and refusing to relinquish power.

If a war is still raging and martial law is mandated, the constitution and LOGIC mandate that martial law be continuer or extended, until the war ends.

Zelensky was elected, and he happened to be the president of Ukraine when Putin decided to invade. He obeyed the mandate in the constitution to declare war, and changing leadership during a war could be very detrimental. Elections are the only way to change leadership and resigning is out of the question if Russia is to be held at bay. A new leader could decide to give up Ukraine to Russia, which is kind of what YOU would like. Resignation wont happen, so stop wishing for it.
