President Donald Trump will speak before a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
The speech is not officially a State of the Union speech, which is traditionally held starting in the second year of a presidency.
“It is my distinct honor and great privilege to invite President Donald Trump to address a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, to share his America First vision for our future,” Johnson wrote in a social media post announcing the invitation in January.
Johnson also shared a letter formally inviting the president to address the House and Senate.
“Thanks to your strong leadership and bold action in the first days of your presidency, the United States is already experiencing a resurgence of patriotism, unity, and hope for the future,” Johnson wrote.
“Your administration and the 119th Congress working together have the chance to make these next four years some of the most consequential in our nation’s history,” the speaker continued.
“To that end, it is my distinct honor and great privilege to invite you to address a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in the Chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives, to share your America First vision for our legislative future. I eagerly await your response,” Johnson added.
Trump is expected to highlight his numerous political wins during the first seven weeks of his administration. Many of these have come through several executive orders, with more than 70 already signed, in addition to proclamations.
The president is also expected to focus on illegal immigration, including his first signed bill, the Laken Riley Act.
On Saturday, Trump posted an update on border security touting record lows.
“The month of February, my first full month in Office, had the LOWEST number of Illegal Immigrants trying to enter our Country in History – BY FAR! There were only 8,326 apprehensions of Illegals by Border Patrol at the U.S. – Mexico Border, all of whom were quickly ejected from our Nation or, when necessary, prosecuted for crimes against the United States of America. This means that very few people came – The Invasion of our Country is OVER,” he wrote.
“In comparison, under Joe Biden, there were 300,000 Illegals crossing in one month, and virtually ALL of them were released into our Country. Thanks to the Trump Administration Policies, the Border is CLOSED to all Illegal Immigrants. Anyone who tries to illegally enter the U.S.A. will face significant criminal penalties and immediate deportation,” Trump added.

This is a brilliant strategy by Trump that goes against the ‘tradition’. Usually, the State of the Union happens one year after a president is in office. For Republican presidents, that’s a lot of time for the legacy media to define their presidency. Usually by attaching negative label on them.
Trump wants to change the game. He wants to define his own presidency by talking directly to the American public. What better way than making it in Congress? A joint session that guarantees being covered by many channels and new media.
He did this last year. Usually, the party’s big gathering only happens in the party convention which happens in the Summer. Following the convention, the candidate usually gets a bump in polls. Last year, Trump added extra gathering: the MSG event. It was designed to show case the candidates and their supporters so the intensity of the supports increase.
Unfortunately, many Congressional demonrats do not know what “mandatory” means.
Like petulant children they are refusing to attend.
Curious as to what the dems will trash themselves with, could be shredded red cloth to represent USAID blood, maybe as simple with paper bags over their heads, they’re all dressed in black fatigues like Zelensky, who knows.
This is an address to the nation. I don’t care if all of the Democrat members of Congress do not attend.

He is denying so many young Americans the opportunities to be heroic human sandbags for Zelinskyy, who canceled his last Election & now rules by decree, in the Donbas. Won’t their moms, wives, girlfriends, siblings, and children be so proud of them and their memories of their heroes?
The demonrats plan on bringing “guests” that have been axed from the government by that evil Elon and his vile DOGE.
I don’t think that will have much impact as the numbers are pretty high with people who want government cleaned up.
Not all people who have or will lose their jobs are demonrats, who are not doing much work from home. but I bet the percentage is pretty high.
Neither do I care if all the demonrats stay home.
That will send a message that I don’t think they really want to send.

On Inauguration Day, during the indoor event at the stadium, friends of our extended family were on stage with him. The husband / father had been a prisoner of the Taliban for almost three years at the time.
While they were on stage, unknown to them, Michael Waltz was overseas negotiating his release. He came home a day or two later. I was hoping they might be in the audience tonight.
