'Multiple casualties' after 'SUV' ploughs into crowd of people in German city

A major incident has been declared in the German city of Mannheim after a car reportedly rammed into pedestrians, leaving at least one person dead.

Armed police have been deployed across the centre of the city and members of the public have been told to stay away.

According to local reports, a black SUV drove at high speed from the city's parade ground towards the water tower into a crowd of people.

There are said to be several seriously injured people and numerous emergency services present.

It remains unclear whether this was an accident or an attack according to police.

Me too, I went on a Rhine River cruise a few months ago.

This time of year in that part of Germany is the Fasching celebration. It is carnival fun and general foolishness for a week and then everybody goes back to work or whatever...A similar festival called Fasnacht Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 4. If you're familiar with either of these then you might understand how it could trigger Islamic jihadist extremists.

What is this? The third incident in three months? Germany had the chance to vote for AfD and didn’t. The Christian Democrats are not going to change Germany’s insane immigration policies.
