Well if you say Russia can’t be trusted how can you demand lasting peace outside of Trump’s plan?

"Zelenskyy, for his part, says Ukraine won’t enter peace talks with Russia until it has security guarantees against another offensive."
So he wants peace in exchange for peace talks.

Everything Trump was doing was an attempt to stop the dying. Everything Z was doing was to ask for our help to enable him to continue with the killing.
Trump is no fool. It’s amazing that the left still doesn’t get that.

You and I both know that they "get it". It just that everything that President Trump does is against their Marxist inspired plans!

They can call they want: a) Russia will now be emboldened to attack more; c) the Ukrainians get nothing from a ceasefire, so they will resist.
So much for being the "peace" President.

Trump plays the statesman.
Good move.
Most Americans want the killing to stop and our support of the killing to stop.
The details are the details and matter little to the America First movement.
To: SoConPubbie
Kinda misleading headline. Trump said he’d like to see an immediate ceasefire to stop the killing, but he did not formally call for an immediate ceasefire. And he knows as well as we do that ain’t gonna happen.

Ukraine could just agree not to attack retreating Russian troops provided that there are no concurrent Russian offensives. When all Russian troops are out of Ukraine, including Crimea, Ukraine will leave Kursk. Since Russia invaded Ukraine, that is a reasonable offer. Anything that rewards Russian aggression is a non-starter.

But what’s to stop retaliation from the civilian population once the Russians leave? You’re going to need some kind of neutral peacekeeping force in that region to keep them from killing each other. Kind of like Northern Ireland during The Troubles.

Why would Vlad agree to a cease fire when he is gobbling up so much territory?
Give time for the Ukies to reinforce, reorganize?
Time is not on Z’s side, Vlad is deciding the outcome on the lines of contact.

Would somebody please define “security guarantees” for me like I’m five?
Seems pretty vague.

Have your Macron solve the problem! Perhaps Keir Starmer? Peace for Americans and our children are what we voted for. We have our own issues with violent cartels in the south and Radical Leftists to the north.
Luke 14:31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
