“President Trump’s special envoy to the Ukraine War urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to sign the now-deferred mineral rights deal with Washington during the envoy’s visit to Kyiv last week, but Zelensky’s chief of staff insisted on the Friday Oval Office signing”

the exact same thing happened subsequently in a private meeting in Germany with Zelenskyy, JD Vance and Marco Rubio ...

Zelenskyy had no intention whatsoever of signing a mineral deal after the Oval Office meeting and the Trump Administration knew that, and subtly goaded the little blowhard jerkwad into imploding on live, international television before he could do his little no-sign act again in private ...

Zelenskyy is now 100% publicly discredited, and all EU, Democrat and GOP whining that he MUST be included in peace talks have now evaporated ...

the guy is a clownshow and would only disrupt any talks amongst adults, something that the Trump administration already knew, but have now proved to the rest of the world ...

It’s been co-opted by the industrial military complex to further their fleecing of the American taxpayers with forever wars.

What happened to the reports that he claimed his parliament had to approve it and that he couldn’t sign?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/politics/government/scoop-u-s-and-ukraine-discuss-improved-minerals-deal-after-trump-raged-at-zelensky/ar-AA1zsPJG

Fake news? I can’t recall whether the radio report I heard was attributed to anyone specific, but this line seems unique to axios, though other reports cite approval by Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers (ironically originating from the ukes themselves),

https://www.yahoo.com/news/ukraine-war-latest-trump-says-203317557.html

Smacks of a setup from their side to piss off POTUS and a lame attempt by the left to smear DJT, AFAIC.

it’s lovely that a big part of the fallout is that the GOP has circled the wagons around Trump, including the warhawk faction who just had their knees cut out from under them, and that the Democrats have once again been maneuvered into knee-jerk support of an America Last, perpetual-war position supported by the 10%, while the Trump Administration is on the side of the 90% ...

And, the US now has an economic reason to do the same deal with Russian-occupied lands. You know, the lands that the citizens voted years ago to take out of Ukraine and into Russia.

For years, mebbe decades, Uk’s main businesses have been money laundering and sex trafficking. Expecting them to actually recognize a sincere deal was a bit optimistic.
And, when I say “them” I am not talking about Uk citizens (the millions of smart ones left a couple of years ago) I am talking about the scum in charge — the same ones who went along with BeijingBiden’s blackmail when he violated the Constitution and got that prosecutor fired to protect Hunter.

“If “Z” went to DC with the intention of signing the minerals deal, I am still confused about the disconnect that took place”

there’s no confusion: Zelenskyy never had any intention of signing a mineral deal, and the Trump Administration knew that; now the whole world knows it and also knows that an egomaniac clown-show like Zelenskyy belongs nowhere near a negotiating table populated by adults ...

So, will the deal maker, DJT, work out an agreement with Puty? We split the minerals...And the bear gets:

“It was a mistake to let Zelensky anywhere near the White House IMO. There are other places where a deal like this could be signed without elevating the grifter’s stature.”

there was never going to be a mineral deal and the Trump Administration knew that ... the whole point of the Oval Office Kabuki Theater was to discredit Zelenksyy by showing the whole world what an egomaniac clown-show Zelenksyy is and that he should therefore never be allowed to sit at any negotiating table populated by actual adults ...

secondarily, the GOP-war-hawk faction had its knees cut out from under them and were forced to join the GOP in circling their wagons around President Trump, AND also manipulating the Democrats into supporting Zelenksyy, once again exposing their America Last and perpetual-war philosophies ...

Consider me envious.

It got up into the mid-60s yesterday and sunny. Woohoo I’m going riding. Step outside 20 mile an hour plus winds and gusts.

Back down in the low 40s today with moderate sunshine.

Sigh.

Himself, Putin is a much more stable and reasonable ally than Zelensky has proved to be. And with or without Putin, Russia IS now undeniably part of the family of nations and necessary to any durable peace in Europe and the world.

Trump knows this and he knows too the tremendous potential wealth of Russia is significant to world economies. Shutting out Russia will cast them into a dangerous alliance with China. All that is a reality that Zelensky is to short sighted to see.

Zelensky’s interview with Bair on Fox was a disaster for him. He came across as a dissembler with a hidden agenda. He would not answer questions directly.

No real indications that he was ever interested in peace at all; only profits. You’re right, there was never going to be any deal because Zelensky wants all the country’s resources for him and his cabal.

Absolutely true, though Z has lots of company on the short-sighted bench.
