US President Donald Trump has decided to extend sanctions against Russia for at least another year, according to the relevant document in the Federal Register.
The document emphasizes that the United States first imposed sanctions on Russia in 2014 when Russian soldiers invaded Ukrainian territory, occupying Crimea and parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

Trump’s executive order has not yet been published and is expected to be published tomorrow, February 28.” (Excerpt)
This is why I hate commenting on these topics. It seems Trump is playing Putin and the media, not having it out with Zelensky. Just let them work this out.
One effect of the Trump-Zelensky dust up was to remove discussion of the Epstein files from public attention. That may not have been premeditated on President Trump’s part but it had that effect.
Actions. Not words. He is keeping Russia weak.
There only can be WW3 if the US participates. So when Trump invokes the specter of WW3 he is signaling that the US will engage if it comes to war. And that is something Russia cannot afford and they know it. But he is giving Putin the rhetorical cover needed to quit fighting.
So when Trump says we must avoid WW it also means he is willing to fight to one.
I think Russia may be the only country that understands that.

Another one of President Trump’s bargaining chips...
Trump is ready to either tighten or ease sanctions depending on Russia’s willingness to negotiate regarding the war in Ukraine.
