Reports in conservative media earlier this week suggested that a whistleblower provided evidence that the FBI under former Director James Comey ran a “honeypot” operation against Trump to try to entrap him as far back as 2015.

Patel unequivocally stated the stories were not true and that it was important for him to set the record straight.

One would think the article concludes there was no honeypot...but that's really not how it reads. I would expect better from John Solomon

It’s a bad look. I can’t recall, where did that original story come from? Was it a “leak” reported by the Gubmint press. I don’t think FBI or DOJ officially reported it.

It is and isn’t a bad look. Remember the Democrats were whining that Patel was simply Trump’s yes man.

This shows independence from Trump. It tells FIB agents that the director isn’t engaging in witch hunts.

Also, remember almost everything the media says it’s is wrong or slanted. We shouldn’t take anything we hear or read as the truth.

That includes conservative sources. This could have really been a case of a rumour being reported as fact.
