Marjorie Taylor Greene States That Federal Employees 'Do Not Deserve' Their Paychecks in Defense of DOGE Cuts

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene stated in a house committee meeting that federal employees do not deserve their employment or compensation, leaving fellow representatives shocked.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform met on Tuesday to discuss recent developments occuring within the government, including the Trump administration's decision to terminate thousands of federal employees and cut funding from various federal departments in an effort largely spearheaded by the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Illinois Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi brought up the administration's stated goals of privatizing the United States Postal Service, citing a report from the Washington Post stating that they aimed to dissolve USPS's leadership. He noted how this could "potentially throw trillions of dollars of ecommerce transactions into turmoil."

"These reports are beyond troubling and I respectfully request that you have a hearing again on the USPS," he continued. "No private sector entity provides universal service across the nation, and without these letter carriers and others, more than 51.5 million households and businesses especially in rural communities would have no guaranteed delivery."

Rep. Greene then responded to Rep. Krishnamoorthi's concerns.

"You can protest all you want outside of departments of this government, you can protest all you want, but the American people disagree with you. You're protecting the bureaucracy. The bureaucracy is not a business. Those are not real jobs producing federal revenue. By the way, they're consuming taxpayer dollars," she said.

Next time you’re in a govt agency you’ll notice little time spent with you and groups of employees talking and laughing and not helping anyone. They talk down to you and really just pass the buck. I’ve run across some really helpful and caring govt employees, but they are the exception.

“I’ve run across some really helpful and caring govt employees, but they are the exception.”

There in lies a problem with Greene’s remarks. There are good federal employees, those that do their jobs and do them well. They are likely a minority, but they should not be lumped in with the democrat losers that don’t work.

The good guys do deserve paychecks.

Thing is, if any non-governmental organization or business was in debt to the tune of tens of trillions of dollars, they would have had to close their doors decades ago, if the market would have ever allowed them to exist at all.

But because the Federal Government is unaccountable, they get unlimited infusions of cash every single year-every year-to keep them afloat, and not only that...their budgets are increased every year.

As conservatives, we are not anti-government...we are anti-bloated and unaccountable government.

And yet we have people on this very forum who are in support of continuing that, and if any draw downs occur, are done in the form of the normal layoff process, such as giving people with seniority preference in retention, etc. even thought it is the people who have been there the longest who are probably the greatest problem. I experienced one such jack-off on Free Republic in the last few days who said Trump was breaking the law, and we were part of a mob that supported him.

My guess is Trump is skirting the law at times, to some extent. But can we actually rely on Congress and competent judges to thrash this one out, so everything is above-board and legal, and we get a path toward actual fiscal responsibility?

I believe that question answers itself.

If Trump actually does become the true dictator that everybody dreads, it will be because he was forced to be one.

The good guys do deserve paychecks.

Therein lies the problem with all of the bureaucracy! Who are the good guys? Do the 'good guys' come forward to report the 'bad' guys?

If one bad guy prevails, with supervisory approval, then that department is suspect. That applies to all of the federal government departments.

You simply cant have an honest force with a couple of bad (corrupt) employees. The FBI comes quickly to mind as an example.....

I hope some companies step up to the plate and have job fairs for these people who are suddenly out of a job.

Whatever we think of government employees and those who had been working at home, they deserve compassion at suddenly being out of a job with the potential of losing their homes, their vehicles and having difficulty supporting their pets or children.

They will be let go and no one will notice. That’s what they’re most worried about.

Fired workers are not as able to support someone who cannot do anything for them.

You betcha! Congress doesn’t deserve to get paid until they finally pass a real budget and start passing bills to make Trumps EO’s law.

The IRS often gives people face-to-face service when
that agency is really interested in you.
