JD Vance to raise free speech issues with Keir Starmer during Washington visit

JD Vance will reiterate his concerns about the erosion of free speech in Britain to Sir Keir Starmer when the pair meet in Washington DC next week, he said.

The vice-president used his speech at the Munich Security Conference to warn the threat to free speech and mass migration pose a greater threat to Europe than Russia.

Singling out the UK, he said free speech was “in retreat” and Brexit voters had been betrayed by elites opening “the floodgates to millions of unvetted immigrants”.

Asked if he planned to double down on his comments when the British Prime Minister travels to the US to meet Donald Trump next week, he said: “We certainly will.”

“We’re simply telling them to respect the values on which our civilisation was founded, that you ought to debate with one another, you ought to, you know, your government should respect when the people have a dissenting viewpoint,” Mr Vance told The National Pulse, adding: “It’s very simple, and it’s very obvious.”

“And I think that, when we talk about shared values, I think one of the most important shared values is that we, again, ought to listen to our people and not try to throw them in prison when they disagree with what the government’s doing,” he said.

Mr Vance added that the backlash to his comments “from some of our European friends” suggests “they’ve taken too much leadership from the Biden administration” and “leaned too much into the censorship regime”.

Starmer will just say tough - we’re an independent country, and we can do whatever we like. We have are own laws, and our voters are OK with them, or I wouldn’t be in office.

I am tempted to write about our uncouth token hillbilly Yalie, but I might be misunderstood. Starmer is only there because USAID wanted him there so we have no right to complain about getting what we paid good taxpayer money for [well we probably printed it, but you get the drift].

Starmer deserves contempt but he needs to be dealt with in a way that boosts the chances of him losing power.

I’ll leave that up to President Trump to decide.

I’m glad they are bringing this up. Europe is well on its way to complete destruction.

Honestly, I don't think there's that much we can do about it.

Maybe Eastern Europe will be all right.

But Western Europe will end up getting conquered.

Another reason why we need to buy Iceland today.

You make incessant claims that we can force the Ukraine to win a war against Russia but then you turn around and say that we cannot force regime change on a communist persecuting the citizens of our closest ally. Neocons suck.

They have about 20% of the electorate that voted for them (accounting for non voters, they got about 33% of those that voted, and most of those votes were votes against the Tories). Their mandate is pretty weak.

Trump should ask Starmer what a woman is while he’s over there. Bet you good money he (Starmer) wouldn’t be able to answer.

Should read “Vance should ask Starmer...”. Sorry about that.

Starmer is on borrowed time. He will not be in power much longer. His hold on power has vanished over the last few months. Vance is right to pressure him on rights and Freedom of speech.

Meanwhile...

Nicholas Lissack
@NicholasLissack

Keir Starmer hosted a meeting with Muslim leaders at Downing Street yesterday.

Seated beside him was Syima Aslam, who claims Islamophobia is a greater threat than ISIS—and that ISIS itself is less dangerous than the so-called “far right.”

This is who Labour aligns itself with.

And get a load of this...

Preventing ‘pointless elections’ should be a top priority

Anyone else wondering how much US taxpayer money has been laundered to the UK and EU to keep their welfare states afloat...

Wondering out loud what would happen if Harry and Meaghan opportunistically went MAGA and asked the US Armed Forces to help liberate their land and restore them to their “rightful throne”.
