Processing centers ‘nearly empty’ as migrant encounters drop
Border Report ^ | Feb 18, 2025 | Julian Resendiz

Posted on 02/19/2025 7:50:37 AM PST by BeauBo

(Two years ago) Border agents (in New Mexico) were averaging 1,200 to 1,500 encounters a day and processing centers built to accommodate just over a thousand were holding more than 5,000 migrants, U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, said at the time.

Nine hundred to 1,000 people were being released any given day with a Notice to Appear (NTA) in U.S. immigration court, straining the resources of local nonprofits feeding, sheltering and helping those migrants get to their destination.

Fast forward to Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, and things have changed.

U.S. Border Patrol agents are apprehending only about 70 migrants a day between Hudspeth County, Texas, and the New Mexico-Arizona state line (the whole New Mexico border with Mexico).

The processing centers in the region are holding a grand total of 50 migrants. No one is being released on an NTA and everyone apprehended between ports of entry is immediately placed on Title 8 removal proceedings.

Elections have consequences. This is entirely due to changes in US Government policy.

A vast majority of the country, including many DEM voters who will remain silent on the matter for political reasons, are thrilled that the illegal influx has been greatly reduced. I can’t speak to the California border (and maybe Arizona).

Time for “catch and throw ‘em back.” We’ve got 20 million of those freeloading foreign murderers who are killing Americans with their drugs, drunkeness, diseases, etc.

From the article:

Migrant apprehensions have been dropping steadily since the Biden administration issued an executive order routing all asylum-seekers to southwestern border ports of entry via online appointments last June and disqualifying those who crossed the border illegally.

Immigrants could be in US a decade before their case is resolved, lawyers say Apprehensions further plummeted in the sector after President Donald Trump took over. They went from 150 to 165 a day on Inauguration week to the current 70, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection data and the City of El Paso’s Migrant Situational Awareness Dashboard.

I’m saying at least 30 million and I’m predicting that they’ll slack off after they think we’re satisfied.

Good, we can have more job cuts for these “attorneys” who help get illegals in the country.

... Migrant apprehensions have been dropping steadily since the Biden administration issued an executive order routing all asylum-seekers to southwestern border ports of entry via online appointments last June and disqualifying those who crossed the border illegally.

This is interesting later in the article:

Few, if any migrants, are claiming asylum. “Most of our current apprehensions are involving illegal aliens who are trying to evade arrest,” the Border Patrol said. “We are not experiencing individuals turning themselves in for asylum claims.”

Why not? They may have to qualify and cannot under Trump? And was Biden stating everyone was an Asylum Seeker?

Exactly, if those Border Patrol Agents are not needed at the border they can be redeployed to help ICE round up the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS in all the Sanctuary Cities throughout the country.

HOWEVER, it is my humble opinion that they should start in all the SWING states first. Before we worry about rounding them up in Boston, San Fran, LA and Seattle lets round them up in Pittsburgh, Philly, Milwaukee, Detroit, Charlotte, Atlanta, etc.
That way we might be able to win back move Governors and House/Senate seats in the 2026 elections.

Good catch....great questions!!

Of course, this article doesn’t delve into that.

Hopefully, Secy Noem’s office is!
