Here’s why Trump wants to make Ukraine a US economic colony
The Telegraph ^

Posted on 02/18/2025 4:39:57 PM PST by USA-FRANCE

Kyiv holds $15 trillion in natural resources which would help break the US’s dependence on China. The strategic significance of Ukraine’s mineral resources “cannot be overstated”, according to publicly-available Nato briefings. Its vast reserves span more than 100 metals across some 20,000 deposits, including several that have been identified as critically important by both the US and Europe.

America has a golden opportunity to cut its dependence on the CCP for natural resources, thanks to its ally Ukraine which also happens to be profoundly anti-communist and the most Christian nation in Europe (with Poland). But will Musk take a stand — or stay locked in China’s grip? Elon is quick to call out free speech issues in Europe but stays deadly silent on China’s brutal censorship, zero free speech, anti-christianity and communist rule. Legendary double standards and hypocrizy there maybe? While China remains an anti-American tyranny in direct opposition to America's values written down the US Constitution, will Elon maintain his mega-Tesla factory in China? Will he continue to rely on mostly Chinese-made lithium batteries for his electric Tesla cars? I doubt it. Elon remains firmly tied to what the Communist regime lets him do. Sportily speaking : Right now it looks like Beijing has a tight hold on Musk’s soccer balls.

Brilliant idea by Trump. Just think of the mineral royalty checks every American would receive for payback of their tax dollars being sent to fund a useless war.

Ukraine is not our ally and as far as I can tell, never has been.

Security obligations or money being sent to the democrat’s Slavic laundromat does not equal ally.

If it was, Russia wouldn’t have invaded, because America would be directly involved more then as a money spigot.

Sounds more like Trump is working on cutting a deal to obtain what was Ukrainian resources. Makes sense, as it should be enough to pay for all the money wasted there by Biden’s people.

"...thanks to its ally Ukraine..."

It's what we have coming to us, thanks to that leeching piece of land the size of Texas that sits 5,000 miles away that we have sunk billions of unaccounted-for taxpayer dollars into for the past four years.

The only little problem is that it seems that the best places are already taken by Russia.

China is China. China behaves like a traditional "Great Power".

The Left in the West assumes that their values are "universal". Therefore, their ideas will spread and conquer all.

A little bit like the Borg. They're in second place to Islam.

You have other countries/civilizations who are standing on the sidelines. China. Japan. India.

The U.S. has given about $75 billion in total aid.
Europe (EU + individual EU countries) has given about $144 billion in total aid.
Europe therefore remains the main contributor - giving twice as much as America... Which gives Europe a priority.
However I understand that Trump wants to sell more weapons to Ukraine - the business must go on - thus, that might give America some priority after all.

The Ukraine is not America’s ally. The Ukraine is financially dependent on America, and has been since 2014, when our CIA and State Department worked to overthrow the Ukraine for use in NATO’s proxy war to force regime change in Russia.

ince Feb 2022, the United states has given 189 Billion as of fall of 2024. This doesn't count all the illicit funds and NGO's serving Ukraine tax payer money on a platter. America is the main contributor - Europe has no priority.

Since the CIA and State Department helped overthrow Ukraine in 2014, money has been flowing to Ukraine.

I have read that Ukraine is possibly sitting on the worlds largest reserve of nuclear material. If that is true, it would be in our best interest to have some control/access to it. I don’t remember where i read that,

$15 trillion in natural resources?

Baloney!

Before the Russian invasion, Ukraine was the least productive and poorest country in the European community.

I will guess that most of those natural resources involve electric vehicles, clean energy, and back-up electrical storage.

Their famous Ukrainian honesty creates a stable business climate? LOL, just kidding.

BTW, most of the rare minerals are in the Russian zone that was annexed.

Follow up on Ukraine natural resources...

Number one natural resource - coal!

Number two - lithium - for the insane clean energy economy!

There is natural gas in Crimea - but, Obama gave that Russia.

I wish that the press would butt out of the negotiations. They know nothing and have no business commenting on any of it except what is released in press briefings.
