End to Ukraine Conflict Could Unlock 'Historic' US-Russia Economic Alliance — Rubio

In Marco Rubio’s view, such a partnership would "be good for the world" and also buttress relations between Russia and the US long term

WASHINGTON, February 18. /TASS/. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio believes that if everything works as planned with the Ukraine settlement, Washington and Moscow could have a beautiful economic partnership on their hands. He made the corresponding statement at a press conference following Russian-American talks in Riyadh.

According to Rubio, the parties have agreed among other things to begin "to engage in identifying the extraordinary opportunities that exist should this conflict [in Ukraine] come to an acceptable end."

He clarified that this concerns "credible opportunities that exist to partner with the Russians geopolitically on issues of common interest and economically." In Rubio’s view, such a partnership would "be good for the world" and also buttress relations between Russia and the US long term.

The Secretary of State said that should the countries come to terms on a Ukraine deal, this would pave the way to "work together on other geopolitical matters of common interest and some pretty unique, potentially historic economic partnerships."

In case it isn't clear yet, Russia's enemies are the same as Trump's enemies; the US Deep State globalists and their fellow travelers in NATO.

Detente with Russia is in the top 3 STRATEGIC IMPERATIVES for the US.

Even if that means Ukraine ceases to exist.

Even if that means NATO ceases to exist.

Rubio’s thinking is Trump’s thing. Look for a win-win. Make an offer, if it’s possible, in which both party’s gain. Probably this means looking beyond where the lines are drawn on the map.

Well we were on good enough terms with Russia for them to sell Alaska to us.

So glad Bolton, Clapper, and Brennan finally got their security clearances pulled. But every time I and very few others have commented on this site over the years that Russia (as opposed to the vanquished Soviet Union) and the U.S. have much in common to make them natural allies, we’ve been castigated no end. I’m sure it’s going to be the same for Rubio here. Flame away.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio believes that if everything works as planned with the Ukraine settlement, Washington and Moscow could have a beautiful economic partnership on their hands.

Trade settlements/treaties could have been formulated long ago, if Russia was willing to go that way.

But Putin and the Kremlin are not about trade or economic matters to make things better for Russia (and/or the U.S.).

Putin is more about land grabs and reconstitution the Soviet Union. If he can get back the glory of the old Soviet Union with a pact between the U.S. and Europe, that would please him dramatically. It is naive to believe that Russia can be won over with trade deals ONLY.

Interesting. Yet it was Russia who partnered with it’s ally Death to America Iran and the Biden admin to remove President Trump’s excellent Iran policy. Why is that?

As long as there isn’t a formal alliance with Moscow.

I’m cool with gaining access to a plethora of Russian resources to feed into American industries.

I need some people here to explain to me why Russia should not or could not be our non-adversary. There is literally no reason for the animosity.

It could be too late.

There have been rather too many years of demonizing Russia.

There WILL come a time when we will have to beg for their oil and gas. Theirs WILL outlast ours. This is just inevitable. Look at the surface area of the two countries.

Why would they provide their oil to us, even for printed pieces of paper to pay for it, after all this demonizing.

From day 1 they were the wrong enemy to have.

I don’t get it.

Those advocating for spending billions fighting for Ukraine sovereignty are the same folk IGNORING the threat to their own sovereignty by allowing the illegal invasion to go on undeterred.

I keep reading the comment section of the UK papers where the commenters are living in an alternative universe.

The Russians are their enemy not the Islamic invasion that has taken over their country and whom have been allowed to commit sexual crimes on youth with impunity.

Trump is going to militarize our Southern border which is the best use of military that I can think, protect your sovereign borders before you deplete your military might defending other’s sovereign borders.

It’s good that we try to renew economic ties with Russia. Biden’s foreign policy just drove them to the wrong side.
