KYIV/BRUSSELS (Reuters) -U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that Ukraine would be involved in peace talks with Russia, after Kyiv and its European allies warned against a "dirty deal" between Washington and Moscow following Trump's call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said Ukraine would have a seat at the table during any peace negotiations with Russia over ending the war.
"They're part of it. We would have Ukraine, and we have Russia, and we'll have other people involved, a lot of people,” Trump said.
Asked whether he trusts Putin, he said: "I believe that he would like to see something happen. I trust him on this subject."
The U.S. president also said Russia should be readmitted to the Group of Seven nations.

So will "a lot of people"...when a peace deal is discussed.
Russia delegation will be attending the Munich Security Conference tomorrow. Last minute invitation…
So trump says Ukraine as opposed to dictator Zelenskyyyyy. Trump recognizes Z the dictator who suspended elections and not worthy of mentioning
bttt
Why you lie? The Constitution of Ukraine says during marshal law there will be no elections. Zelensky did not decide.
Rusia is bombing civilians every night and executing POWs and why don’t you call on Putin to stop?
The Tiny Dancer will be brought in to sign on the dotted line. There will be a few minutes of pomp and then he will be escorted to a waiting helicopter that he hopes will make it to the nearest airport so he can flee with his life. Its that or he is left to the mercy of the NAZI's.
.
I suspect his ‘exit’ strategy will be part of the deal.
Zelensky will be seated on the toilet seat where he belongs. I wonder if he will bring along his nose candy stash?
Nothing is going to happen until Gabbard gets people fired and zero agenda intel briefings are available to Trump
Gabbard is going to have to fire everybody.
Some PRO Z Putin admires on this thread have no clue about how things are working. Zelensky just CAN’t organized elections during a war. The Ukrainian Constitution must indeed first be re-written in that case.
C210N wants nations to violate their own constitutions. That is anarchist ideology.
It’s just hysteria.
Putin is a KGB rag doll dangling from some KGB strings. They lost their 10.000’s tank today in their botched 3 year old war! A great day for Ukraine’s military.
In a few weeks we will have accurate casualty numbers. Give Gabbard time to fire some people.
Then the briefings will be reality.
Nice try Right Wing Madman!
I like that.
But here is the thing:
Under martial law, which has been in place since Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, elections cannot legally be conducted.
Constitutional Basis:
Martial Law Restrictions (Article 64 & 83)
Article 64 allows certain constitutional rights to be restricted under martial law.
Article 83 states that if martial law or a state of emergency is in place, parliamentary elections (Verkhovna Rada) cannot be held.
Presidential Elections (Article 108 & 112)
The Constitution does not directly mention elections under martial law, but Ukrainian law prohibits holding them in wartime.
The current martial law prevents the organization of a full, free, and fair election process (e.g., campaigning, voting logistics, international monitoring).
Practical and Security Challenges:
Even if Ukraine amended its laws to allow elections under martial law, conducting them would be highly challenging:
Millions of Ukrainians are displaced both internally and abroad.
Many regions, particularly in the east and south, are active war zones.
Soldiers and civilians under occupation would struggle to vote.
Elections during martial law are expressly prohibited by Part 1, Article 19 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Legal Regime of Martial Law.” The prohibition by law applies to all types of elections: elections of the President of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, and local self-government bodies.
