US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said on Wednesday that the war between Ukraine and Russia “must end,” that Kyiv joining NATO is unrealistic and that the US will no longer prioritize European and Ukrainian security as the Trump administration shifts its attention to securing the US’ own borders and deterring war with China.

In remarks before a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, Hegseth also said that European troops should be the primary force securing a post-war Ukraine—something US troops will not be involved in, he added.

“The United States does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement,” Hegseth said. And he added that any security guarantees offered to Ukraine “must be backed by capable European and non-European troops.”

Asylum admission was originally intended for people like that, not for fence jumpers seeking to cash-in on the USA and its taxpayers.

That is absolutely the right policy.

It doesn’t mean I advocate a country being invaded by another. It means that giving a possible invader a reason will make it, regardless of the validity of that reason, more likely to invade.

If they want to push it by making Ukraine a member of NATO, we should withdraw from that treaty. I have, and still do view the pushing of Ukraine membership in NATO as a deliberate tripwire for American involvement in that existing conflict.

I'm pro-Ukraine.

And I agree that we should withdraw from NATO if they decide to continue to push Ukraine into NATO.

I do not agree with Russia, obviously. But I can understand the Russian perspective. It's unacceptable for Ukraine to be in NATO.

two countries overrun with Muslims, and Poland. A Poland whose recent actions make me believe they are drinking the EU Koolaid. A Poland that probably would like its eastern land back from Ukraine.

Common sense is the enemy of the globalist cabals.

Be thankful that common sense has found a home in the Trump Administration.

I stand with Trump, yesterday, today, and forever.

What if a traffic judge in Toledo rules that Pete has to let Ukraine into NATO? This might happen given all the other recent “rulings”. What then? They appeal the order? What if the higher courts side with the traffic judge? I guess they’d be forced to allow Ukraine into NATO.

I think I’m going to hold out on the celebrations until the judges have had a chance to rule on this.
