On Thursday, Utah Sen. Mike Lee and Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles introduced the “Bringing Oversight to Washington and Safety to Every Resident (BOWSER) Act” in Congress, named after D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.

The proposed bill would revoke the D.C. Home Rule Act of 1973, which allows the city to have control of its own local affairs, including the ability to elect a mayor, a council of representatives and Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners who manage neighborhood concerns.

And another thing, I propose an amendment that says any nonresident of DC hauled into a DC court has the right to have their case transfer to their him state.

good, then use eminent domain to seize every piece of residential property in DC and then bulldoze the lot. I don’t believe DC should have any citizens living in it. It should only be government buildings, and possibly housing for government officials.

What the Congress really needs to do is abolish the DC circuit in the federal courts. The DC Swamp has proven it is completely incapable of administering justice. Both the judges and the juries are hopelessly politically biased and corrupt.

Take some of their money away by ending the DC city income tax. This would set a good example for neighboring Maryland and Virginia and also help DC’s economy.

..including the ability to elect .. Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners who manage neighborhood concerns.

Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners = Community Organizers = Communist Agitators ala' Barry Sotero.

BOWSER Act, another name for a dog. DC needs a full GI tract cleansing, and this is a good start.

Another step in the right direction, but painfully difficult to accomplish.

Good.

I would go further. I would return the land back to the states that gave it up in the first place, Maryland and Virginia except for a small area for the Federal Government.

Dems love to have crime ridden crappy cities. And, if you try to fix them they howl about racism, sexism, and whateverism. I’m so tired of it. The problem is, the democrat voters aren’t tired of it.

They drive by the homeless encampments, pass the crappy liquor stores, go around the dilapidated schools, get out of their cars and pull the lever for the democrats...year after year after year.

Washington, D.C. is the nation’s capital, but the crime and squalor are an international embarrassment. And it is entirely the fault of the Congress, which ran away from its responsibility.

Revoking home rule would be one step towards correction. Another step would be ceding civil criminal jurisdiction to the courts of Maryland and Virginia and abolishing federal DC District courts altogether. The J6 show trials are only one of the abuses resulting from the current system.

If the situation cannot be corrected, at least change the name from “District of Columbia” to “Washington, Disgrace of Congress.”

The Virginia piece of the District of Columbia was given back to Virginia in 1846. The entirety of the current District of Columbia land was given by Maryland.

I’d try to give almost all of it back to Maryland.

I do like the suggestion of getting rid of its income tax. I suspect even Democrats in Congress would like that idea.

DC’s problems are much greater than just its ‘rat mayor and council members, so a Congressional power take back won’t be enough.
