STATEMENT

A free press is essential to freedom and democracy – and 75% of countries around the world do not have a free press. BBC Media Action supports local media around the world to deliver trusted information to people most in need.

Like many international development organisations, BBC Media Action has been affected by the temporary pause in US government funding, which amounts to about 8% of our income in 2023-24. We’re doing everything we can to minimise the impact on our partners and the people we serve.

I work in finance. Most corporations will go under if the lose 20% of gross revenues. 200% of profitability resides in that 20%.

Losing 8% might mean they lose 100% of profitability and will need to shed expenses.

Disgusting and (almost) unbelievable.

Thank goodness for Donald Trump. We are a debtor nation. So for years we have been borrowing money, and then sending that money to the BBC.

Crazy.

We are providing EIGHT PERCENT of the BBC Media Action's revenue?

Note this not BBC, but a subsidiary. Wiki -->

"Formerly known as the BBC World Service Trust, BBC Media Action is the BBC's international development charity, funded independently by external grants and voluntary contributions. The purpose of the organisation is to use media and communication to reduce poverty, improve health and support people in understanding their rights. It works in partnership with the BBC World Service and other local media and development partners in over 35 developing and transitional countries around the world."
The last data about BBC Media Action on Wiki is from 2015/2016!

Revenue: £45.3 million
Employees: 832

Let the Brits can use their OWN damn money to fund their "charitable works."

and 75% of countries around the world do not have a free press.

And the BBC works hard to keep the UK in that 75%.

Like many international development organisations, BBC Media Action has been affected by the temporary pause in US government funding, which amounts to about 8% of our income in 2023-24.

That "temporary pause" must become permanent, and those responsible for routing US taxpayer dollars to all media entities must be fired immediately. And the idea that a single penny of my tax dollars was used to fund the _British_ Broadcast Company is too bizarre for me to comprehend. WTF?

8% of their costs, from American taxpayers, are essential to freedom and democracy. What is the other 92% of their funding used for?

No shame at all:” A free press is essential to freedom and democracy” . America helps pay for British garbage propaganda. The true free press died decades ago.
