Sorry, But Trump Is Wrong on Resettling Palestinians in Jordan and Egypt
Hotair ^ | 02/05/2025 | David Strom

Middle Eastern countries are entirely right to oppose President Trump's plan to evacuate the Gaza Strip and resettle the Palestinians in nearby countries.

I don't say this out of any sympathy for the Gazans. They have more than proven that they have no business running a state, no less a state next to Israel--a country that the vast majority of Palestinians want to see wiped off the face of the Earth.

Trump on Egyptians and Jordanians needing to take in Gazans as refugees (despite their long opposition to it): "I would like to see Jordan and Egypt take some of -- the Gaza thing has now worked. It has never worked and I feel very differently about Gaza than a lot of people. I don't know how could they want to stay. It's a demolition site. It's a pure demolition site. If we can find the right piece of land or numerous pieces of land and build them some really nice places. There's plenty of money in the area, that is for sure. I think that would be a lot better than going back to going back to Gaza which has had decades and decades of death...They could be in Jordan. They could be in Egypt, other places. You can more than two -- more than one, but you cold have more than two. You would have people living in a place that could be very beautiful and safe and nice. Gaza has been a disaster for decades...I don't think the UN would pay it, but I think there are plenty that would in the area. They have a lot of money. They certainly have a lot of money and some countries would like to see it. I know that Saudi Arabia wants to see peace. I could see that. Many of the countries there -- as far as I'm concerned, they all want peace. I think Iran -- maybe I'm wrong on this but I think Iran would like to see peace too, they have had enough...They may have said that, but lots of people said things to me. They said they wouldn't take anyone back in Venezuela and right now they are flying them back into Venezuela. And they are doing the right thing in Venezuela. The Panama Canal is an active discussion right now. They said things about that and virtually everything that's been said has been incorrectly stated based on the result." pic.twitter.com/PreqSHkWRf— Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) February 4, 2025

No, the problem is not that evacuating the Palestinians from Gaza is cruel or unfair--although arguably, it is the latter. It's that the Palestinians have proven to be political and social poison wherever they settle. Ask the Jordanians. Ask the Lebanese. Wherever large numbers of Palestinian "refugees" settle, chaos and death follow.

Where Palestinians go, wars follow. And I am not referring to Israelis fighting Palestinians--that is a given because Palestinians are committed to killing Israelis until the state no longer exists. No matter where Palestinians settle--in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Europe, or the United States--they are trouble for the ruling regime.

I don't mean to suggest that Palestinians are, by birth, any more warlike than any other group of human beings. All human beings have the capacity to be civilized or agents of chaos. Look at the history of Germany if you doubt that; at times, it has been one of the most civilized and culturally vibrant cultures in human history; at others, it has been among the most brutal.

Palestinian culture is focused entirely on grievance, and its main motivation is war against anybody who stands in the way of their revenge.

Jordan's civil war was caused by Palestinians. Lebanon has been a disaster since the 1970s because of the Palestinians. Palestinians are trained from birth that terrorism is glorious, and Allah celebrates martyrdom. The Palestinian Authority spends $300 million a year supporting the families of "martyrs." The UNRWA runs schools that teach children that killing people is a calling.

Arab countries reject Trump proposal to move Palestinians from Gaza into Egypt and Jordan | Danielle Wallace, Fox News

Trump wants Egypt and Jordan to take in Palestinian refugees from 'demolished' Gaza

A group of powerful Arab nations released a statement on Saturday rejecting President Donald Trump's proposal that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip be relocated to Egypt and Jordan.

The foreign ministers of Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, as well as the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States met in Cairo, Egypt, on Saturday, and released a joint statement afterward detailing matters that the leadership of the powerful Arab countries agreed upon.

Their agreements included "expressing the continued full support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and their adherence to their legitimate rights under international law." The statement said the officials "affirmed their rejection of any violation of these inalienable rights, whether through settlement activities, the expulsion and demolition of homes, land annexation, or the displacement of Palestinians from their land."

"They also rejected any efforts to encourage the transfer or uprooting of Palestinians from their land, under any circumstances or justifications," the statement, released in English by the Qatari government, said. "Such actions, they noted, threaten regional stability, exacerbate the conflict, and undermine the prospects for peace and coexistence among the region's peoples."

The statement also "welcomes" the cease-fire and hostage release deal between Israel and Hamas that was brokered by Qatar, Egypt and the United States.

"The participants also expressed their commitment to working with the administration of US President Donald Trump to pursue a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East, in line with the two-state solution, and to strive for a conflict-free region," they said.

Trump was asked in the Oval Office on Friday if he believes that it is a good idea that Egypt and Jordan accept Palestinians from Gaza despite the two countries denying they would do so.

"I think Jordan will take people, yeah, people from Gaza, and I think Egypt will take them also. I mean, I heard somebody said they're not going to, but I think they will. I feel confident they will," Trump said.

Israel's war in Gaza, which was started by the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attacks that killed 1,200 Israelis, is believed to have eliminated most of the terrorist organization's grip on the region, but the matter of reconstruction and eventually reformed leadership without terrorist control hangs in the balance amid a fragile cease-fire agreement.

Trump first floated the idea of Egypt and Jordan taking in about 1.5 million people from Gaza while addressing reporters aboard Air Force One last month.

"I’d like Egypt to take people," Trump said. "You’re talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing and say, 'You know, it’s over.'"

"It’s literally a demolition site right now. Almost everything’s demolished, and people are dying there," Trump said of the destruction caused by the 15-month war. "So, I’d rather get involved with some of the Arab nations, and build housing in a different location, where they can maybe live in peace for a change."

Last week, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said the transfer of Palestinians from Gaza "can’t ever be tolerated or allowed."

"The solution to this issue is the two-state solution. It is the establishment of a Palestinian state," he reportedly said at a news conference. "The solution is not to remove the Palestinian people from their place. No."

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi also said that his country’s opposition to Trump's idea was "firm and unwavering."

The Egyptian government said El-Sisi received a call from Trump on Saturday but did not mention the issue.

"The call fostered a positive discussion between the two Presidents, underscoring the critical importance of advancing the implementation of the first and second phases of the ceasefire agreement, and ensuring the stabilization of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip," according to the Egyptian government read-out. "Additionally, the call emphasized the urgent need to increase the delivery of humanitarian aid and relief to the residents of Gaza."

El-Sisi "reiterated the imperative to reach lasting peace in Middle East," according to his government. "He affirmed that the international community places its trust in President Trump's capacity to secure a historic and enduring peace agreement, which would bring an end to the decades-long conflict in the region. This is grounded in President Trump's commitment to peace, which he underscored in his inaugural address, as a man of peace. President El-Sisi stressed the vital necessity to launch a peace process conducive to a permanent solution in the region."

There is lots of talk among Arabs about Palestinians having inalienable rights. Blah blah blah. They just want nothing to do with them.

No sane government would want anything to do with Palestinians. Jordan and Egypt border Palestinian territories, and they have border controls that are more stringent than those of the Israelis because they know how poisonous Palestinian ideology is.

That puts Trump and Israel in a bind, but the bind isn't caused by Arab intransigence. No matter where the Palestinians settle, they will bring death and destruction. And, no matter where they go, they will still present a threat to the world.

I freely admit that I, as with everybody who has thought about this problem, have no good solution. People have tried to solve the problem for decades with no success.

Trump's diplomacy in his first term led to the Abraham Accords--one of the most stunning diplomatic successes of the past few decades. His efforts to constrain Iran were making progress, and with a defanged Iran, the Palestinians lost important support. Defunding "Palestine" and destroying the terrorist infrastructure--including the billions of dollars that flow in every year to bolster terrorism--are necessary but not sufficient.

Longer term? Who knows? Right now, the Palestinians are a people who revere Nazis. The Nazis were cleared out because they were decisively defeated, occupied, and re-civilized. Can the same be done with the Palestinians?

I haven't a clue.

But if I were advising a Middle Eastern country about what to do I would tell them to build the biggest wall possible, electrify the fence, and watch Escape From New York to get tips on how to keep people locked up in a small geographic area.

I support Israel 100%. I would love to see the Palestinians somewhere else, as far away from Israel and any sane government as possible.

I hear Antarctica is a nice place if you are dressed properly.

No chance of it ever happening. It’s a negotiating ploy for Iran. The question should be, what is his “deal” position? What’s he up to? Something BIG!

Check out Trump’s remarks regarding “Reagan’s stupidity” in getting Buffalo into being responsible for 220 dead Marines.

So what. Let the muslims finally help other muslims.

Muslims hate each other already. Won’t be anything new.

Where do they think the paid labor will come from for clearing out the Gaza Strip and rebuilding it? From Egypt and Jordan. Maybe Lebanon, too, if they oust Hezbollah.

It's a valid point - the Egyptians (who know them best) steadfastly refuse to let Gazans cross over into their country because they don't want the trouble they'll cause in Egypt. And yet the leftists in Europe and the US will happily import them as refugees.

“I believe that only the Iranians deserve them”

How about the countries that sent their criminals to us? They get their criminals back, plus some Palestinians as a fine.

Trump doesn’t care where they are, he wants the ME to do something. They will only take care of their own problems if they believe Trump is stepping in.
They don’t want it, but don’t want him to have it. They’ll get together and solve it because no more same thing anymore.

Do you REALLY want these Palis on our continent?
Getting into Iran might be interesting, would the Mullahs control them, fear them, or just execute them?

“It’s all talk.”

Agree, some people have no sense of humor. None at all. When Trump announced the plan Bibi was sitting down next to him and doing all he could not to laugh. Too damn funny!

Seems to me that if the Gazans are going to let a group like hamas come in and take over their country to use it as a launching point to do things that invite pain and suffering, and be used as human shields, then maybe they need a baby sitter.
