Freshman Texas lawmaker calling for deportation of Ilhan Omar
The Hill ^ | 02/04/25 4:43 PM ET | by Filip Timotija

Rep. Brandon Gill (R-Texas) has called for deporting Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), a U.S. citizen, back to her country of birth, Somalia.

“America would be a better place if @IlhanMN were deported back to Somalia,” Gill wrote Tuesday on X.

Gill, a freshman lawmaker representing Texas’s 26th Congressional District, was responding to a clip another X user shared on Tuesday of her recent interview with a reporter.

Thirty minutes later, in another post, Gill wrote that “we should have never let Ilhan Omar into our country.”

Omar came to the U.S. as a refugee in 1995 and became a naturalized citizen when she was 17 years old in 2000.

A spokesperson for Gill told The Hill, “Representative Omar’s conduct raises questions about to whom she is most loyal- the American people or illegal aliens from Somalia. Representative Gill simply stated that it is disgraceful for a sitting Congresswoman and US citizen to facilitate the invasion of our country by illegal alien Somalis.”

In the clip, Omar, the first Somali-American Congressmember, outlined what Somalians who are “undocumented or who their documentation might have lapsed” should do if they are questioned by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

If Somalia doesn’t work out, then I’d settle for El Salvador

Of course The Hill headline is a lie.

They can’t ever be honest.

The guy made a rhetorical comment, it’d be better if she were deported.

If citizenship was granted from fraudulent actions, is one really a citizen? Seems it could be revoked if circumstances prove it was not warranted.

Try her for treason. By the way, USAID was sending hundreds of millions to Somalia. She was surely in on it.

I believe that naturalized citizenship can be revoked.
It happened to an old man in Ohio (?) who had been a guard
in a concentration camp.

Mr. Gill..... please focus the bulk of your energy toward neutering as many RINO’s as possible within the state of Texas. Omar will receive her comeuppance soon enough for her crimes against the people.

“I believe she has citizenship so we’d have to start there”

I don’t know the exact wording, but when she gained her citizenship I think she had to swear some kind of oath of alleigence to the US, right? If it can be proved she’s broken that oat through her actions, it might be possible to revoke her naturalization. If it can’t be proven, we’re stuck with her.

But, IIRC, the DoJ found that she DID use a marriage to her brother to commit fraud for him or her, right?

What happens if you commit fraud to become or help someone become a citizen?
