'Viper's nest': USAID accused of corruption, mismanagement long before Trump admin took aim
Fox News ^ | February 3, 2025 | Emma Colton

The U.S. Agency for International Development’s fate is hanging in the balance as the second Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, is working on an apparent overhaul of the agency.

A review of USAID’s recent history shows that it repeatedly has been accused of financial mismanagement and corruption long before Donald Trump's second administration, Fox News Digital found.

Tech billionaire and DOGE Chair Elon Musk has been on a warpath against USAID — which is an independent U.S. agency that was established under the Kennedy administration to administer economic aid to foreign nations — as he leads DOGE’s mission of cutting government fat and overspending at the federal level.

Musk announced in an audio-only message on X overnight on Sunday that "we’re in the process" of "shutting down USAID" and that Trump reportedly agreed to shutter the agency.

"With regard to the USAID stuff, I went over [it] with him in detail, and he agreed that we should shut it down," he said. "I actually checked with him a few times [and] said, ‘Are you sure?’"

He added that Trump responded, "Yes."

As of Monday morning, hundreds of USAID employees reported they were locked out of the agency’s computer system and that its headquarters in Washington, D.C., was closed on Monday.

On X, Musk has railed against the organization as rife with "marxists" and is operating as a "criminal organization."

"USAID is a criminal organization. Time for it to die," Musk posted to X on Sunday.

"USAID was a viper’s nest of radical-left marxists who hate America," he said in another message.

Trump repeatedly proposed slashing the nation’s foreign aid budget for USAID and the State Department during his first administration, including proposing in his first year in office to slash the budgets by 37%, which Congress rejected.

Schumer is panicking: "If DOGE can shut down USAID, next it might be the IRS or intelligence agencies" pic.twitter.com/yyr3seJW04— End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) February 3, 2025

That agency has more than 10,000 employees. It’s inconceivable to me that they need 10,000 employees to administer US foreign aid.

USAID is a cutout for the deepstate intel blob to send money to foreign and domestic NGOs acting as cutouts to provide kickbacks to wholly owned congress critters. "The History of the Intelligence State" -- an essential 40 min lecture on the origin story of The [Deepstate Intel] Blob.

Why USAID needs to end
13 minutes

USAID was invented via executive order by JFK. As such, Trump will end it.
The necessary programs will be moved of Departments of Agriculture. Department of State etc
Congress legislated the funding for USAID, but they never passed a law for it to even exist.

USAID was a nest of CIA/Intel swamp creatures, using money “abroad” that could be completely hidden from congress, courts and independent journalists

Many USAID “graduates” when on to organize Trump impeachment, censorship of social media, Russia-gate, etc...

I wonder if we will get a “Twitter Files” style release, where their documents are given to the public and independent media for review, analysis and reporting to the American public

I doubt it, because they are government property, and most are probably classified

Regardless, I hope we can get a clear accounting of USAID political and financial corruption.

Your president can fix that.

Well, that was because it really wasn’t much about administering actual “Aid”.

Color revolutions and buying people to work against their own government is costly.

That said, they started using USAID to do the same things on American soil.

Well apparently they just sent Alex Jones the files on the intel/fbi op to destroy him.

Classification is to protect national security not coverup corruption and malfeasance [and I was born yesterday].

OK Fox News, then answer me this: “Why did it take until 2025 to take action on USAID’s mismanagement?”

It appears to many of us that Fox News is part of the problem and not part of the solution.

Why is USAID Giving Millions to Bill Kristol? Elon Musk Says, ‘Not Anymore’ [Feb. 2, 2025]
"The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has been funneling millions of taxpayer dollars to organizations linked to Bill Kristol, the neoconservative war hawk best known for pushing endless wars and failed foreign policy."

“Why did it take until 2025 to take action on USAID’s mismanagement?”

First, there has to be people in place with authority and the will to use it, then there has to be access executed by those people with the authority, then move with the speed and purpose of Elliot Ness and the Untouchables. That's exactly what Trump had to do and how he's doing it. The normal due processes of checks & balances are not working and could not be expected to be relied upon, no way no how. There are narrow conditions and parameters that had to be present and in place to take on such a behemoth of corruption or else there's failure.
