This comes as an email was sent to USAID staffers saying that "At the direction of Agency leadership" the headquarters facilities "will be closed to Agency personnel on Monday, Feb. 3."
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is reportedly being merged with the State Department, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve as USAID’s acting administrator.
According to CBS News senior White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs, sources said that USAID will be moved under the purview of the State Department, which will bring cuts to the workforce. It will remain a humanitarian aid entity.

What happened to disbanding it?
Dismantle it piece by piece and arrest them all.
Nice work.
Hopefully, for all intents and purposes, this is disbanding it.
Need Congressional action for that.
ABOLISH THE WHOLE DAMN THING its corrupt as hell, we are giving money to terrorists, you have the likes of Bill Kristol screaming about it, why, because he gets BIG BUCKS from them, anyone screaming about USAID is being funneled money
There are some places where aid is sensible but a lot is waste. Just watched a press briefing with Rubio. Apparently USAID thought they didn’t have to report to anyone.
Nope. USAID was created by executive order and it can be disbanded by executive order. I believe that only the functions are moving over to the State Department and everyone that work for USAID is getting fired.
Perhaps this is how to get around it.
When was USAID established? I can’t get on the website.
This may be a temporary thing.
First step/s.
This is GOOD news....let’s CELEBRATE!! 🎉
Exactly—USAID Food or money delivery may serve American interests in some situations. So, throwing the baby out with the bathwater is not a good idea, but severely restricting USAID monies not serving the taxpayer interests is a good thing.
And not necessarily in THAT order!
Is this a first step toward getting rid of it?
No, just kill it!
Feeding starving people with a big US flag on the bag of oatmeal or rice, and drilling a well for the village, I’m cool with that.
Organizing opposition and paying politicians and middlemen, no.
