Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced late Saturday the federal government will hit back against the U.S. after President Donald Trump launched a trade war this weekend with punitive tariffs on all Canadian goods...
To start, Canada will levy 25 percent tariffs on $30 billion dollars worth of American goods coming into Canada as of Tuesday. The tariffs will then be applied to $125 billion worth of American imports in three weeks' time...

Canada List Ping.
If you want on or off, please message me.
I plan on running this list through the Federal Election. If anyone is interested in taking over or helping out after the election, please Freepmail me.
Through the election I expect 5-10 pings per week—as there are a few articles worth noting of late, the posting the first few days will be on the heavier side.
We’ll see who blinks first. Probably the largest economic engine the world has ever seen will be the winner against maple syrup imports.
Shut down our Northern border.
Wake me up when they spend 5% of their GNP on military, as we (almost) do.
I am providing my own coverage at the end of my Saturday blog post with the story leading the News Summary for Sunday later tonight...

Totally loony
I’d rather Trump save the tariffs for China and India. We need stability on our northern border and a fortress North America.
Trudeau will soon be gone and Poilievre will be a much better partner anyway.
Just too hard for Canada to control their border?
Nice slap in the face for the Mounties!
Maybe when this ‘Tard is gone they will find someone with a brain to take over.
Trump gave Alberta a favor with only 10 percent on oil.
Premier Danielle Smith has hinted if things worsen she may try to bring Alberta into the USA IMHO.
We should be careful. He is a master of disguise....
What’s their voting record like?
That’s going to hurt… them!
Most Canadians live just north of our border, heavily reliant on the USA. Maybe they can do shopping in Greenland.
Trudeau will be gone on March 7th and is attempting to leave his successor with some semblance of having stood up to Trump on the theory that it might help the Liberals.
The mess likely will be Polievre’s to straighten out, most likely sometime in May.
However, a lawsuit will be heard in mid-February that may cause Parliament to be recalled sooner than Trudeau has planned, which could let Polievre take over sometime in April.
In the mean time, Ford (Ontario Premier) called an election this past week on the grounds that he needed a new mandate to deal with Trump-—in reality he has been looking for an excuse for months to go early, especially as he will almost certainly do better before Trudeau’s successor finishes being anointed (most likely a man whose last serious job was heading the Bank of England—no typo—he was born in Canada,
but Harvard and Oxford trained) than waiting until Polievre has been in office for a year.
Compared to the rest of Canada a bit more to the Right. They got Calgary and Edmonton with immigrants who vote NDP (Socialist) but the only way the NDP wins in that province and they did once is when the Conservatives are split.

Not even a loonie!
I gotta admit, I’m wondering about all this tariff stuff. Milton Friedman, for example, was not a fan.
Double loony doesn’t even buy a teeny bag of ready salted crisps! The horror.
