Former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. releases statement after not receiving pardon

Joe Biden issued a series of pardons as he prepared to leave office, including pardons for his family members. Former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr., who requested a pardon, did not receive one. In a statement, Jackson expressed disappointment and criticized the Biden administration for failing to address what he called the "felonization" of Americans who have served their sentences. CHICAGO - Former President Joe Biden issued a number of pardons on Monday before leaving the White House, including for his own family.

However, he did not grant former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.'s request.

Jesse Jackson Jr.'s Response What they're saying Jackson stated his belief that pardons should not be reserved for the privileged and called on the next administration, under President Donald Trump, to take action.

"Of course, I am disappointed. Democrats had an opportunity to end felonization for thousands, if not millions, of American citizens who have completed the time they were sentenced to serve. The fight for the American felon, of which I am one, must continue," Jackson said in his statement.

Jackson argued that Biden’s decision to pardon his own family members while leaving others without relief could have political consequences, particularly if Trump uses his pardon authority in the future to aid those who have completed their sentences.

"If President Trump wields his pardon pen for the debt-paid felon, as it is expected he will for January 6th insurrectionists, I believe he will make inroads into the base of the Democratic Party on a scale that we have not seen," Jackson said.

What's next Jackson pledged to continue advocating for those who have completed their sentences, calling the pardon power "the most powerful power in the Constitution."

Was Dr. Francis Collins pardoned by Biden, or was the price of a pardon higher than he is willing to pay?

Complaining about not getting a pardon has a lot of interesting aspects, not the least of which is why does he think he needs one?

what the hell does he think this is, correct me if Im wrong but a pardon is used in cases of injustice not those who are guilty of a crime and want to wipe the slate clean. Im surprised Al Sharpton wasn’t bitching about one for tax evasion extortion and ruining the lives of many with his racist lying accusations like Tawana Brawley who recently said it was all a hoax

Read the original article, still don't get it. What is Jesse Jackson Jr. talking about? If he's done the time, that should be it. Could someone explain?

From the little research I've done, it appears that Mr. Jackson's beef is that he hates being labeled a "felon". Hates how that label is blocking his path to a lucrative job. Hates how that label is negatively affecting other people's opinion of him.

In other words, the exact reaction to the "felon" label that the Democrats wanted to saddle on Donald Trump's persona.

Is this it?

Signed, Puzzled.

Poor Jesse Jackson, Jr. If he hadn’t been a crook, he wouldn’t need a pardon.

Yer darn tootin it sounded like the Bee. What in hell have people in Washington been doing illegal, which they certainly know they did, that would need a pardon. Damn crooks.

Maybe instead of mocking guys like him when they connect the dots, we should try a more welcoming approach.
He correctly noted that only privileged DC insiders seem to get pardons. I think he was convicted on some embezzlement type crime or something. BIDEN can’t pardon graft. But he can pardon Fauci, Milly, his whole crime family, and countless murderers and rapists.

BIDEN can’t pardon graft.

Hunter Biden’s pardon was all about pardoning graft.

So? Biden also claims to be a Catholic, but allowed the imprisonment of pro-life advocates.
For Biden, it isn’t about one’s beliefs, politics or color. Jackson probably didn’t write a check big enough.
