The town of Enfield voted to get rid of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee Thursday.
“The majority of the council wanted to repeal the DEI committee in Enfield. This has been an ongoing desire of the Republican majority,” said State Rep. and Enfield Town Councilor At-Large John Santanella.
Enfield Mayor Ken Nelson said the DEI committee could never keep enough members over the years.
“Over the course of time, starting with the very first meeting, due to disagreements within the members some members never returned,” Nelson said. “Some members resigned, and you can’t replace someone unless they formally resign.” ...
Town Councilor At-Large Bob Cressotti believes the vote was politically motivated, especially since President Trump just signed an executive order to remove DEI.
“To me, it’s almost like they are following suit with the national level, with eliminating DEI committee from the federal, so I myself think it’s more of a political issue than an issue of not having another people,” he said.
Nelson said that claim is simply not true, stating the committee wasn’t doing anything.
“Our liaison, both Republican and Democrat side, never brought anything to the council,” Nelson said. “The DEI never brought any of the charges to work, they never came to the council and expressed problems to the council or anything like that. So, for this to be a shock is not really the case.”

Wait, the DEI idiots couldn't even fill their committees, work tougher or bring any relevant information/concerns to the TC to solve for years, then trow a fit when the get shutdown. Congrats, you proved you served no purpose.

If your precious committee was so with important fr you, why not serve on it and recruit others to do so?
All the DEI “influencers” will be heading back to their old jobs at the Chicken and Waffles Warehouses.
Republican and Democrat members never brought anything to The official CT DEI council
<><>never brought up any DEI charges,
<><>never came to the council and expressed DEI problems
<><>some of them quit or just never showed up.
IOW, A very well-run DEi committee.
The problem is that DEI has become job one, subordinating all other functions of government, including public safety. DEI does not put out fires nor extricate people from burning vehicles or buildings. The education system and the military did not come into existence to make people feel comfortable or accepted; they were created to perform specific tasks promoting public safety or supporting prosperity. Inclusiveness does not protect our children from deviants or psychopathic killers. Equity doesn’t make safe highways or build skyscrapers. There are concerns that society has that outweigh our feeling good about ourselves and satisfying someone else’s notion of what’s fair, upon which we can never agree. Grownups have to take charge.
Nick is a moron.
And he’s a racist for excusing black and brown kids’ behavior. The typical leftist racism of low expectations.
Connecticut is just another liberal shxthole like the entire northeast.
Nick is racist and doesn’t believe minority children have a capacity to be educated and socialized. He doesn’t believe they can meet minimal standards of behavior in public that would make their parents proud. Nick frankly looks down his long nose at minorities. Nick should just admit it.
This is just one town, that was historically Republican lead and had an annoying two years, spat where Democrats took charge and had some of the largest tax increases in town history, in addition to this. I know around 2020/2021 several other towns nearby also voted to start DEI councils. I know of another town nearby that put one in in 2020 after Saint Floyd, but, according to the official town website, is still an active committee, only has two out of six members/positions filled and has not posted an agenda since mid to late 2023.
All of these seem to run by leftists who just wanted the title, but didn’t want to work once things got tricky so they just gave up. You can’t claim there’s a need for a DEI committee, because of all these racism issues or what not, then Never actually bring any concerns to the town council for them to address.
When he was running for office back in like 2020 or so, I met him once and tried to ask him a few “tough“ questions. I had seen his campaign website and everything and there was very vague. I picked a couple topics. He had talked about and asked a more in-depth question I could think of. It was the biggest cheap empty suit and non-answer full of liberal talking points. I never actually answered the question.
