Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission indicating that he may pursue another independent bid for the U.S. Senate when his current term expires in 2030. Sanders, born in 1941, would be 89 years old at the time of the election.
Sanders filed an amended Statement of Candidacy with the Federal Election Commission on Monday. According to the document, he would run once more as an independent candidate. This is a shift from past remarks Sanders has made about running for another term, as he previously said that his current term would likely be his last.
Sanders has served in his current role as the U.S. Senator from Vermont for three terms, first winning election in 2006 as an independent candidate. Before that, he represented Vermont’s lone congressional district for eight terms—also as an independent—and was Mayor of Burlington for four terms.
Throughout most of his professional political life, Sanders has embraced the independent label in his campaigns. However, he sought the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination in both 2016 and 2020 and previously ran for Vermont governor and the U.S. Senate multiple times in the 1970’s as a member of the Liberty Union Party, now called the Green Mountain Peace and Justice Party. His campaigns have also occasionally involved winning the primaries of other parties as a write-in candidate or receiving their support, such as the Democratic Party’s endorsement during his first U.S. Senate race—which he ultimately declined.
Optimist.
How old is that communist?
Some people covet power so much they will only give up their office when they assume room temperature.
No use giving up a paying grift.
Did Biden's puppeteer team issue a pardon to that old gasbag?
There is something very, very wrong about being so consumed by lusting after political influence and power that one would even entertain the notion of running for president, let alone any office, at that age. First, there’s a good chance you will be dead by then, and second, it is absurd to think you could honestly serve as president at that age.
"Never give up the con."
I don’t even want to hear about elections for a while.
83. Another reason age, or term limits, or both should be seriously considered by the Feds regarding members of Congress. What a blustering old fool. I think you need an umbrella if you’re anywhere near him when he starts blubbering, shouting and slobbering. Ugh.
Precisely, my FRiend.
Maybe he just wants that fourth home.
“another independent bid for the U.S. Senate“
As if he’s anything but a rat. As evidenced by the fact that the Dems never run someone to oppose him.
Feel the excitement!
I figured Bernie would be the chief of some Vermont African tribe by now.
PELOSI FILED papers for 2026 in November
Hope he croaks by them.
Leftists don’t know when to give up.
one look at him and you’d think he had already.
What the actual hell.
They fear losing the protection of holding office.
