The high popularity that the Ukrainian president had in the early days of the Russian invasion, with an approval rating of about 90 percent, has dipped badly.
...
And a new trouble spot for Mr. Zelensky has emerged: the revival of political opposition in Ukraine, animated by the prospects of a cease-fire and the elections that could soon follow. His opponents are also encouraged by the barrage of criticism Mr. Trump and his aides have aimed at Mr. Zelensky. Two opponents who ran against Mr. Zelensky in Ukrainian elections in 2019 — former President Petro O. Poroshenko and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko — have reached out to members of Mr. Trump’s team. Ms. Tymoshenko traveled to Washington to attend some inaugural events on Monday.

All fine with me. Just saying.
Go Trump.
Didn’t he CANCEL the last election??? He is a THIEF and a TYRANT!
Good! Get someone in there who will work with Trump!
“Election”
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. /s
The last I knew, he suspended elections.
Personally, I don’t think Zelensky is helpful in a negotiated end to war.
So what?
Ukraine has never been anything but the most corrupt country in eastern Europe since the Soviet Union broke up.
If Z falls, they will just elect ANOTHER corrupt POS to replace him.
Not our circus not our monkeys....
While Im not a fan of Russia, Ukraine is corrupt to the core. Is was Bidens money laundry.
Zelensky has a tidy bank account I’m sure
... if the globalist left allows a free election.
Z-Man is a Dictator.
The dirty little secret is that Zelensky has been deeply unpopular in Ukraine for a long time now. That is why he canceled the election. He coordinated with the globalists to give him cover for such an action so that the money grift could continue.
I see Zelensky resigning after a deal is worked out, without standing for election again.
Never forget that this little worm, worked with Vindman, the Democrats, and GOPe to set up Trump for impeachment. I don’t think Trump has forgotten this - Trump may say moderated things in public about Zelensky, but behind the scenes, Trump surely wants to put the screws to this petty dictator.
I’ll give Trump the SCREWDRIVER!
Yes indeed. His term expired back in May or thereabouts. He cancelled elections and has ruled more or less as a dictator since then.
“Personally, I don’t think Zelensky is helpful in a negotiated end to war.”
The problem Zelensky has is the people who are sometimes seen standing behind him, the Azovs (Ukrainian Nazis), those are our DEEP STATE Brownshirts and once Zelensky goes out of his line, like talking about ending the war, they’ll take him out. So, you’re right, he’s useless in negotiating.
Also, it’s hard to see Trump bothering with the Europeans, as they’re psychotic, or at least the women that are in charge of Europe are psychotic (even by women standards), so why bother with them either.
Reading well down into the article, the same-old is found:
"...no vote in Ukraine is scheduled — or even possible, election experts say — while the war rages and the country is under martial law...."So much in the "news" these days is about predicting tomorrow in the headlines -- whether tomorrow or in a hundred years -- and about plumping prose up with "anonymous sources" and more, but reading down into articles belies the headline's intent.
Churchill lost in the post war election in the UK.
Meanwhile, Poroshenko was the oligarch who succeeded Yanukovych in June 2014, and was pro-NATO/anti-Russian. Zelensky defeated him in April 2019 on an anti-corruption/pro-Russia platform.
Poroshenko is also on Russia's "wanted" list along with Zelensky.
Russia puts Zelenskyy and Poroshenko on the wanted list
So what makes you think that the Russia policies of Tymoshenko or Poroshenko would be any different than Zelensky's should either of them defeat him in an election?
