Federal employee union sues Trump over Musk’s DOGE

An early hurdle to clearing out the swamp!

The largest union of US federal government employees filed suit on Monday against President Donald Trump over his plans to create a cost-cutting “Department of Government Efficiency” headed by billionaire Elon Musk.

The suit was filed in a district court in Washington by the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) and non-profit Public Citizen just minutes after Trump was sworn in as the 47th US president.

Trump has tasked Musk, the world’s richest man, with slashing billions of dollars in federal government spending.

Trump and Musk have claimed that $2 trillion could potentially be saved, but most experts believe that is not realistic without deep cuts to crucial social services or benefits.

In its suit, the AFGE, which represents some 800,000 federal workers, said it wanted to ensure that DOGE complies with the requirements for federal advisory committees.

“The advice and guidance that Mr Trump has charged DOGE with producing is sweeping and consequential,” the complaint said.

This...makes zero sense. They want it declared illegal for reviews and recommendations to be made?

Their goal is to tie the Trump Administration up in lawsuits so they can run the clock out.

In the meantime, they want to continue to be allowed to do remote work

That union needs to be de-certified. There’s no right for public employees to be unionized.

The fact that ANY government union exists is from an Executive Order.

Trump can reverse that one, too.

They want their corrupt DNC stooge-"judges" in the District of Corruption to declare it illegal for reviews and recommendations to be made.

Federal workers demand the right to be inefficient.

That would be great! Maybe on day two

I know...it *should* be tossed because it’s not ripe yet. Until he ignores the union agreement they can’t sue.

But I’m sure a lefty judge will think it’s ok to sue now.

Need to get Congress to change the rules on venue with all these governmental issues. They all go to the Federal District and then its court of appeals, every single judge of which is a deep state slimeball. There is no reason for Federal issues affecting all citizens to be kept in DC. They should be rotated around the country or sent to the region affected the most (for example, an oil region for oil, an ag region for farm issues).

Remember Trump is generally pro union. He drew significant support in 2024 from rank & file union members.

Careful…
An executive order made government unions, and they can take it away.
