President-elect Donald Trump has selected one of the Secret Service agents who protected him after a gunman opened fire at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania to lead the agency.
Sean Curran, the special agent in charge of Trump's personal security detail, will take the helm as director at a time when the agency faces mounting scrutiny after two failed attempts on the president-elect's life.
The announcement was made by Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., who praised Curran's dedication and character in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday Why It Matters
The decision comes after a turbulent period for the Secret Service, which has been under intense pressure in the wake of the assassination attempts.
The first occurred on July 13, 2024, during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a gunman opened fire on the stage, grazing Trump's ear.
A second attempt was thwarted on September 15, 2024, at Trump's Mar-a-Lago golf course in Florida, though the candidate emerged unscathed.
The July incident in Butler raised significant concerns about coordination between local and federal law enforcement.
Critics pointed to failures in communication that allowed the gunman to position himself on a rooftop undetected, opening fire before a counter-sniper could neutralize the threat.

The agent who was tall enough to shield President Trump is now head of his security detail. The female agents who weren’t tall enough are to be reassigned. They are to be responsible to make his shoes are always clean and shined, and they will assist Melania on shopping trips.
Why didn’t he choose the 4’9”, fat #$&t who hid under the podium and then couldn’t holster her pistol?

Trump has great plans for her. She will be assigned to the Harris protection detail.

Probably because Bongino is making a great living and, after his cancer scare, I’m sure his wife and family want him to stay right where he is. I’m sure Dan will lend is expertise with Sean as needed.

Good idea. Assign all of the SS DEI hires to protect Biden, Harris, and Obama. All of them thought DEI was such a good idea, then they should enjoy the fruits of their idea.
Does SCOTUS get SS protection? If so assign the DEI’s to protect the leftist justices.

Bongino is an excellent, expert resource that can provide an outside view of SS to compliment the Agency view, and he is a diehard Patriot speaking as one.

Trump picked the man he most depended onto protect him.
Hopefully whoever this person is has the guts to reform the Secret Service. Loyalty is nice but he could be loyal to the corrupt Secret Service too.
