Was that a former PG&E plant?
“A huge fire now at Vista Power Plant in Moss Landing, CA. From what I understand, this facility IS the largest lithium battery storage in the world.”
Correction: “WAS”
Yes, Vistra Energy owns and operates the Moss Landing Power Plant which was formerly owned by PG&E.
bttt
*was
After it’s finely put out there won’t be many batteries left.
Interesting...
Not much nearby other than the Slew and a nice seafood restaurant.
Hmmmm...
And environmentalists say lithium power is clean energy.
and Californians were worried about the earthquakes?
It's for the environ-mint, you know.
Third time's a charm!
They said that about the semiconductor business as they were forcing heavy industry (FMC et al.) out of the Santa Clara Valley.
That was before they found TCE in the groundwater.
They said that about "clean air gasoline."
That was before they found MTBE in the groundwater.
Now this.
Any time you concentrate energy it is a risk. We've had 125 years to work out the bugs with petrochemicals. Why should anybody expect any different from lithium batteries?
Looks to me like thieving democrats are going down the toilet of history due to their climate change hoax and greed. Western California, from SF down, is now now a burnt out, toxic cesspool.
You’re ahead of me. Ignore the upcoming message.
Elkhorn Slough...Phil’s is now in Castroburg.(Castroville)
Intel’s Fab 1 (Mtn View) was declared a Super Fund Site for solvents. It was in the middle of an orchard...
Bld 10 & 11 hp (Page Mill, Palo Alto was another. Bld 10 housed a furnace for pulling gallium arsenide used primarily by the Opto half of the Components Division. Though we, in Microwave used GaAs for FET’s, wafers were sourced from Opto so, it wasn’t my fault.. The problem was not gallium.
Not my long suit but it seems the combustion chemistry of Li batteries includes HF and HCN. The lab safety course at hp said that HF on the skin was usually not detected until it made it through tissue and found calcium (bone). One of the Techs was mixing a sol’n of buffered HF and forgot ‘always add acid’. Went up in her face. ~100 shots of cortisone and she was OK. If I recall, she went back to work in lithography. Cyanide speaks for itself.
The end.
Apparently the second or third fire for this battery farm.
HF doesn't quit, it is NASTY.
