SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed the designation of 760,071 acres of critical habitat to protect the imperiled foothill yellow-legged frog under the Endangered Species Act.

The Center for Biological Diversity says this proposal aims to safeguard vital habitats for the frog's conservation and recovery across the Sierra Nevada, and along the central and southern California coast.

This proposal follows a petition and lawsuits filed by the Center for Biological Diversity, which has long advocated for the protection of these frogs. The designated areas will protect essential habitats for four populations of foothill yellow-legged frogs in California: the southern Sierra Nevada foothills, North Feather River, Central Coast, and South Coast.

Pink fire retardant used in Los Angeles fires controversial for wildlife impact US has used it to fight blazes since 1963, but some current and former Forest Service employees say chemical retardant kills fish and is ineffective Muhammet Nazim Tasci | 14.01.2025 - Update : 14.01.2025

https://www.aa.com.tr/en/americas/pink-fire-retardant-used-in-los-angeles-fires-controversial-for-wildlife-impact/3450123

just heard tv news say air drops of fire retardant are not allowed over endangered critter habitats unless human life or property are threatened. so

a 1 acre fire in a protected habitat will not be air dropped

how about when it grows to a 5 acre ? no ?

when it becomes a 100 acre ? no ?

how about when it becomes a 1000 acre fire that is about to consume a town or city

yes.

so let a 1 acre fire in a protected habitat burn and possibly turn into a life threatening fire , THEN HOPE it doesnt grow into a city killer.

see the problem with this approach ?

nip it in the bud is how you prevent out of control killer fires.

i thought the left liked “ kill it before it grows” ?

spit eco bizerkers

looks like the bizerkers have plans for the future.

The 1,000 acres wildfire kills all wildlife within it.

I live in the mountains in Acton, and this lilly livered frog is what shut down the Angeles National Forest and Little ZRock dam in my neighborhood. My property borders the Angeles National Forest. I still ride my dirt bike there and the restriction starts about 5 miles south of me so we still have a lot of room to ride in my backyard. about 25-30 square miles is all we have left.

No biggie. California liberals aren’t using that land anyway.

CBD is a lawsuit mill. I’m guessing it has more attorneys than biosphere experts.

This is why land should be given back to the states and all these ‘management’ agencies should be abolished.

Yea, I know. They showed up here in Indiana about 12-15 years ago. They were trying to shut down access to caves. I’ve been an active caver for 40 years, so I know the BS involved. Most caves in Indiana are on private land but that didn’t stop the CBD.

Could someone please detail all of the advantages of micromanaging biological genetic diversity.

We truly need to know: How many human lives is it worth to ensure that our great-grandchilden can look at a live example of a 3-striped minnow, rather than "just" the very common 2-striped minnow? How much sacrifice and expense and loss is that incredibly minor sustained genetic diversity actually worth?

These eco-terrorist sue the state and and an activist judge - which California is full of - rules in their favor.

It’s how the terrorists have prevented controlled burns, fire breaks from being built and clearing out of the underbrush.

Results are catastrophic fires - which lefty pols like Gavin Newsom will blame on climate change and not on the policies he supports that caused these fires.

Yesterday I saw two beautiful hawks circling and screeching over my home - an uncommon sight. I live between the two raging fires and suspect they had been burned out.

foothill yellow-legged frog

If you hunt them down and kill them all there will be nothing to protect (except us).

“Protecting” a single species can be just like giving someone welfare instead of work. The “protected” status idea suspends it’s own belief in evolution, a theory that EXPECTS species, as they are, are due prior generations having adapted to changes in their environment. They pretend “endangered” species will not contunue to adapt, and change, as circumstances demand. A good example of their stupidity is the growth in the population of polar bears, who seem to have more wisdom and survival instincts than the species protetion alarmists.
