Embattled Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass scoffed as she brushed off questions over her reported rift with Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley.
Bass, who has come under intense criticism for her handling of the crisis, said at a Saturday press conference that she and Crowley are 'lockstep' in their efforts.
'We are lockstep in our number one mission, and that mission is to get us past this emergency right now,' she said.
'We want to make sure that we save lives, we save housing, we save businesses, and if there are differences that we have, we will continue to deal with those in private.'
As Bass stepped away from the podium, a reporter asked if reports that she had fired Crowley were true, to which she responded 'no' and laughed.
It came after Crowley blasted the city's mayor for 'failing' fire crews and communities devastated by the ongoing wildfires.
Crowley took aim at the city's leadership during an interview with KTTV on Friday, admitting it had failed those affected by the fires and prevented the LA Fire Department from effectively doing its job.
'We are screaming to be properly funded to make sure that our firefighters can do their jobs so that we can serve the community,' Crowley said, adding that there were 'huge gaps' in firefighters' ability to tackle the blazes on the ground.

like upon her appointment she said something about wanting to prove people wrong and do a good job as a female. she didn’t then go onto devote
her energies to DEI once in power. she was doing the business of supporting the dept and trying to make sure it was in good shape to fight fires. wrong villain.

If she touted DEI stuff on her official webpage, she was not doing her job. Her job is/was fire dept. chief. They have an HR dept. and a diversity office for the rest.
Her job was to maintain a fire dept. ready to fight fires and save lives.
She should be fired yesterday, along with the asst. chief, mayor and Governor.
