Donald Trump, Jr., son of President-elect Donald Trump, arrived in Greenland on Tuesday after emphasizing that the trip is just a personal one, indicating he is not meeting with government officials.
His trip comes as his father continues to float the possibility of the U.S. purchasing and taking over Greenland, an autonomous territory administered by Denmark. Trump had also suggested the possibility during his first administration.
About the same time as his eldest son landed, the president-elect, celebrating his son and his advisers' trip to Greenland, floated a "deal" that he claims "must happen," while not elaborating on what deal that is.
"Don Jr. and my Reps landing in Greenland. The reception has been great. They, and the Free World, need safety, security, strength, and PEACE! This is a deal that must happen," Trump wrote in a social media post Tuesday morning. "MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!"

Good one! IMHO it'd be interesting to fast forward a few centuries and see how long the Modern Warm Period lasts and warms the planet. The past few warming periods lasted 4-6 centuries, and the current one is 1.5 to 2 centuries old (depending on who you ask). As you pointed out, Greenland is one of many examples we know of showing that at least the Medieval Warm Period was warmer than our Modern Warm Period is now.
I don’t know whether acquiring Greenland is a good or bad idea, but it’s crazy that borders mean nothing to the elite establishment except in the official sense.
America was born as an expansionist enterprise, so I don’t know why bargaining for another piece of land is so controversial. It’s not like we’re going to send in the 82nd Airborne to take it by force.
trump could prolly pick up greenland for less money than brandon & company dumped into the Ukraine.
Maybe Junior can get them to surrender. Greenland would be a nice balance against Alaska.
Why in God’s name would we want Greenland?
Precious minerals and manifest destiny and strategic military defense point.

And if I understand it correctly, there is no private ownership of land in Greenland. And no roads or trains connecting cities -- it's all done by boat or plane. (Roads are within the cities, but leave the city and the roads end at the outskirts.)
Fun fact, there is no road access to the capital of Alaska!
What is the apparently sudden urgency in Greenland?
Are Russians/ China actively doing anything?
Are the Chinese/ Japanese/ Norweigans fishing or Whale hunting?

Greenland on winter is a vacation spot. Who knew?
That’s adorable that you think we could just mine, drill and extract with wild abandon in Greenland. If it was American, the EPA and democrats would lock it up just like they do here.
And defense point? Against WHAT? And we already have bases there and it’s a NATO territory. So in the fantastic imagination that someone might invade Greenland or we have to re-enact WWII convoys to Europe (not happening anymore than Wildcats fighting Zeros over the Slot).
And Manifest Destiny? What fever swamp DC disease makes it manifest that it’s the destiny of America to possess Greenland? LOL
Also, tons of oil and NG.
If you want to extract resources, the last thing you want to do is put it under the control of DC, the BLM, and EPA.
